Item CAREER DEVELOPMENT METRICS AND EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION OF PFAS IN NIGERIA(Facultyb of Management Sciences, Kogi State University, Ayingba, Nigeria, 2021) Omolabi, I.; Ishola, A. A.; Olabanji, O. A.The nexus between career development and employee motivation cannot be over emphasized as the era of using financial means to get the attention of the employees has long expired. The emerging trend is for the organisation to create an enabling platform for the employees to grow in their career. This alone can stimulate the staff to perform better and thus facilitate the effective efficient achievement of pre-set organizational goals. It is this nexus that this paper explored among the employees of Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) in Nigeria. This relationship was proved using a survey design with 4983 staff of the 22 pension Administrators in Nigeria as at December 2020. From the population, a sample of 370 respondents were selected using Taro Yemane sample size formula. With a structured questionnaire, primary data were collected and analysed with a multiple regression analysis. The study found that that the coefficient values for all the career development metrics positively and significantly influence employee motivation of PFAs in Nigeria. It thus concluded that career development metrics have significant effect on employee motivation of PFAs in Nigeria. The paper therefore recommended that career advancement systems which are linked with performance levels since rewards in terms of career growth and promotion opportunities have an effect on employees’ job related attitudes.Item CORPORATE ENTREPRENEURSHIP: CHALLENGES OF ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT IN FAST MOVING CONSUMER GOODS COMPANIES IN SOUTHWEST NIGERIA(Departments of Accounting & Finance and Business Administration, Fountain University, Osogbo, 2017) Omolabi, I.; Amosa, J. R.; Suleiman, A. A.The rate at which companies shut down their operations in developing countries requires the need to examine the challenges of entrepreneurial development in Fast Moving Consumer Goods Company in South-West Nigeria. This study therefore: identifies the challenges of entrepreneurial development; and examines the relationship between employee intrapreneurial behavior and organization performance. In an attempt to achieve these objectives, two hundred and five (205) respondents were sampled from junior staff to management to executive level within the key drivers in the fast moving consumer goods in South-West Nigeria. Findings from the study revealed that employee innovation (Pearson Correlation = .958, p<0.001), risk taking (Pearson Correlation = .947, p<0.001), educational attainment (Pearson Correlation = .941, p<0.001), desire for autonomy (Pearson Correlation = .884, p<0.001), proactiveness (Pearson Correlation = .848, p<0.001) and internal locus of control (Pearson Correlation = .824, p<0.001) have statistically significant relationship with performance. The study therefore recommended that management should be cognizant of the inability to recognize and exploit business opportunities, poor communication channels, inability to change from present status of operation. Also, companies should provide a supporting environment that will foster risk taking, employee innovation, proactiveness, desire for autonomy, internal locus of control and educational attainment.Item E-GOVERNMENT IMPLEMENTATION IN NIGERIA: BUILDING A NEW PARADIGM FOR PUBLIC TRUST(National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, National Assembly, Abuja (NILDS), 2021) Ishola, A. A.; Abdulkareem, A. K.; Omolabi, I.This study investigated how the online delivery of public services (e-government) has impacted public trust in the Nigerian government. This was done using an electronic survey conducted with 13,743 users of online government services. The study found that that electronic public service delivery had (t = -4.73, p < 0.05) significant effect on public trust in Nigeria. However, the practical significance as the t obtained -4.73 is greater than t critical value -4.303 under 2 degree of freedom at 5% significance level. This difference further implies that significant effect existed between service delivery and public confidence with practical difference from the null value. Stemming from this finding, the study concluded that the significant positive relationship is established between electronic public service delivery and trust in government and it could catalyse the promotion of trust in the Nigerian government.Item EFFECT OF BROADBANDING ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED HOSPITALS IN LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA(Department of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, University of Ilorin, ilorin, Nigeria, 2024) Omolabi, I.; Peleowo, T. L.Pay structures are the offshoot of industrial crisis and human being are the life blood of the organization However, managers are responsible for restructuring the pay grade system to improve employer performance. The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of broadbading on employees performance of selected hospitals in Lagos State, Nigeria. The specific objectives are to; (1) determine the effect of pay structure on employees' performance; (ii) examine the influence of pay grade system on employees engagement. The study used a cross sectional survey design to obtain the needed information directly from the target respondents which spread across the seven hospitals selected for the study among the few functional government hospitals operating in Lagos State. Reliability test of 0.729 was derived using Cronbach alpha. A multistage sampling procedure was used in this investigation. Purposive sampling was adopted in selecting hospitals owned and controlled by the federal government. Descriptive statistics were employed. Multiple regression analysis was utilized in this study. Findings shows that there exists a very strong relationship between employees' performance and pay structure (which is predictors or independent variables). It is also clear from the table that the 12 which is the coefficient of determination is 0.556 approximately 56%. And, it shows that the correlation coefficient r is 0.784 (i e, r0.784) which indicate that there exists a very strong relationship between employees' engagement and pay grade system ween pay structure and employee performance. A strategically crafted pay structure, which includes competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and clear progression pathways, motivates employees to excel in their roles and contributes to enhanced overall performance. Pay grade system has a significant influence on employees' engagement. The study recommends that management of selected hospitals should explore the nuanced impacts of different pay structure elements across various industries to refine these findings and optimize compensation strategies.Item Effect of e-business on customer relationship management on online stores(Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Economics, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, 2019) Omolabi, I.; Suleiman, A. R.In today's world business environment, e-business has become a critical business resource to almost every organization, despite customers’ baffle seriously with some challenges encountered in its operation. These challenges are not limited to difficulties in navigating all necessary checkout pages on an e-commerce website, insecurity and lack of privacy to customer's information supplied online. It is in relation to the above that, the current study decided to examine the effect of e-commerce website quality on customer satisfaction as well as determine the effect of e-business strategies on customers' patronage in online stores. Survey research design was adopted and administered 394 copies of questionnaire to the respondents. The result of the hypotheses tested through regression analysis revealed that there was a significant effect of e-commerce website quality on customer satisfaction. This was evidenced with R value of 0.57 and P-value of 0.000, Also, that e-business strategy has a significant effect on customer patronage. This was evidenced by value of 0.665, with probability value of less than 0.05. The study therefore, concluded that customer satisfaction is influenced by e-commerce website quality. Also, customer patronage is highly influenced by e-business strategies in online stores. It is therefore recommended that, online store owners and managers should make maximum usage of the e-business model as part of the emerging ICT revolution, which could serve as opportunity and sometimes threat to their businesses. Thus all aspect of e-business operation should be closely monitored and continuously scanned to help the business stay relevant and meet the expectation of all stakeholders including their customers.Item Effect of organisational culture on employees’ organisational citizenship behaviour in Nigerian manufacturing industry(Department of Public Administration, University of Ilorin, Nigeria, 2020) Amosa, J. Therefore, to bring OCB to employees, organisational culture is required. However, the lack of administrative will to entrench a culture that encourage the exhibition of OCB by employees has been an impediment to the survival of many organizations. Thus, this study examined the effect of organizational culture on employees'organisational citizenship behaviour in Nigerian Manufacturing industry using selected culture and OCB variables with reference to Sunflag plc. Lagos.The specific objectives of the study were to: examine the effect of people oriented culture on employee sportsmanship behaviour and evaluate the effect of result oriented culture on employee conscientiousness. Questionnaire was served to the sampled respondents of 297 gotten with taro Yamane sample size determination formula from 1150 employee of the organisation, through a multi stage sampling technique(stratified to take care of each levels of staff and simple random to pick from each strata). Regression analysis were adopted to test the two hypotheses formulated for the study.Results from the study revealed that people oriented culture has a significant and positive effect on sportsmanship (R2= 0.581: p-value<0.05) and that results oriented culture has significant influence on employee conscientiousness (R2=0.661: p-value<0.05). The study concluded that organizational culture in its various forms has significant impact on employees' corporate citizenship behaviour. The study recommended that organization manager should promote a culture that foster selflessness, participation and exhibition of innovative behaviour that guarantees the realisation of the organisational target.Item EFFECT OF PERSON-ORGANIZATION FIT ON EMPLOYEE EFFICIENCY IN NIGERIA BANKING INDUSTRY(Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Gombe State University, Gombe, Nigeria, 2024) Omolabi, I.For employee performance to be at the optimum level, both the employee and the organization mot fir one another. Essentially, it's saying that the relationship between an employee and the organisation they work for can affect how motivated they feel at their job. If an employee feels like they fit well with the company's values, culture, and way of operating, it can increase their motivation and drive to do good work. However, if there is a mismatch or poor compatibility between the employee and organisation, can lead to the employee feeling disengaged, unhappy with their job, and less productive overall A good employee-organization relationship academies file a poor fit can have the opposite motivating effect. Therefore, this study examines the effect of person organization fit on employee efficiency in Nigeria banking industry. The study adopted a survey research design with a population of 121 staff of GTB which represents the broader banking industry. A sample of 142 was drawn through Taro Yamane and sampled randomly. The study used primary data and questionnaires. Multiple regression was used to test hypotheses. The study found that value-realization has significant effect on organizational commitment; and need-fulfillment has significant effect on employee engagement. In conclusion, a strong positive effect and relationship exist between person-organization fit and employee efficiency in the banking industry. Thus, the study recommends that Banks and other financial organizations should focus on implementing value realization schemes or strategies in form of personal values, organizational values and value congruence to improve their employee's organizational commitment and employee efficiency overall.Item EFFECT OF RESISTANCE TO CHANGE MANAGEMENT ON EMPLOYEES PERFORMANCE IN SELECTED TEXTILE MANUFACTURING FIRMS, LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA(Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri, Maiduguri, Nigeria, 2021) Amosa, J. R.; Omolabi, I.; Suleiman, A. A.The demand of modern business required that organisations provide their employees with information and support that guarantees the acceptance of change initiatives. Therefore, the failure of management to avail employees with the right to participate and to be informed regarding the change in the organisation has been the main cause of resistance and friction between management and employees. Thus, this study sought to examine the influence of managing resistance to change on employee performance of selected textile manufacturing firms in Lagos state, Nigeria. The specific objectives were to (i) determine the influence of change communication on employee productivity; and (ii) examine the influence of employees’ participation on job satisfaction. The study made use of cross sectional survey design and a multistage sampling techniques. Data were obtained using questionnaire distributed to 365 staff from the total population of 4,115. The hypotheses drawn were tested with regression analysis. The findings from the test revealed a significant and positive effect of change communication on employees’ productivity (R2 = 0.748, P-value ≤ 0.05) and that employees participation had a significant and positive effect on Employees’ job satisfaction (R2 = 0.738, P-value ≤ 0.05). The study therefore, concludes that a well-managed resistance to change positively and significantly affect employees’ performance. The study recommends that managers should pay serious attention to the management of employee resistance to change, with effective and efficient communication as well as entrench organisational democracy through employees’ participation and involvement.Item EFFECT OF SOCIALIZATION ON EMPLOYEE PRODUCTIVITY IN THE NIGERIAN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY(Department of Marketing, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, 2024) Omolabi, I.; Peleowo, T. K.With rising labour mobility, the psychology, attitudes, and behaviours of new W employees attract significant attention in organizational development. New employees, including fresh graduates and those changing careers, regularly face challenges such as vagueness in the organizational environment, team adaptability, and expectation deviations. This study examined the effect of socialization on employee productivity in the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry focusing on the (i) effect of psychological well-being on employees' productivity and (ii) impact of cultural values on employees' productivity. A cross-sectional survey research design was adopted, utilizing both primary and secondary data sources. A 7-point Likert scale structured questionnaire was used, with a reliability test yielding a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 71.2. From a population of 435 staff at Tuyil Pharmaceutical Industry, a sample size of 205 κατ determined using Krejcie and Morgan (1970), and 197 questionnaires were duly filled. Data were analysed using multiple regression analysis. The findings for objective one revealed a significant effect of psychological well-being on employees' productivity, with an R' of 425 (42.6%), an F-statistic of 326.547, a beta value of 0.319, a t-value of 1.259, and a significant p-value of 0.000. Objective two showed a positive and significant impact of cultural values on employees' productivity, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.749, an R of 0.361 (56.1%), a beta value of 0.442, and a significant level of 0.000. The study concludes the importance of prioritizing employees' mental health, job satisfaction, and overall well-being to maximize productivity. It also highlights fostering a culture of respect for diversity and inclusion to enhance synergy and teamwork. Recommendations include prioritizing employees' psychological well-being and managing cultural values to boost productivity.Item Effect of technological change management on product quality of selected textile manufacturing firms in Lagos state, Nigeria(Faculty of Management Sciences, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria., 2021) Amosa, J. If properly managed, technology has the capacity to guarantee the production of quality output. Unfortunately, many business managers failed to properly monitor, manage and cope with the constant change in technology. This has brought serious setback to the competitive ability of the textile firms in Nigeria compared to their foreign counterparts in terms of product quality. Thus, the paper sought to examine the effect of managing technological change on product quality of the selected textile manufacturing firms in Lagos state. The specific objectives are to: (i) examine the extent to which training influences organization's product performance and, (ii) determine the extent to which technology institutionalization influences organization's product conformance. To achieve these objectives, a cross sectional survey design was employed. A study population of 4115 with a sample size of 365 employees gotten through Taro Yamani sample size determination formula made up the respondents for the study. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested. The statistical technique used was multiple regression analysis. The results showed that a statistically strong and positive relationship exists between training and product performance (R square 0.662p (0.05) and that technology institutionalization has positive and significance influence on product conformance (R Square 0585, p0.05) This indicated that managing technological change at it evolves has a positive and significant impact on product quality. The paper recommended that organizational managers should take the issue of technology change management seriously through training and the institutionalization of the new technology to upgrade employees’ skills and competence that leads to the production of high-quality product at low cost.Item EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION: A STRATEGIC TOOL FOR PROMPT ACHIEVEMENT OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS(Faculty of Social Sciences, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, 2020) Dunmade, E. O.; Olusesi, D.For workforces being the organization’s most essential and treasured resources to function to the fullest so as to achieve on time the set goals of any organization, the management of such workplace is expected to give its maximum support for easy work performance through effective communication. The study therefore seeks to examine the influence of effective communication on the achievement of organizational goals with a concentration on Chi – Farms limited, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. This was with the sample size of Four Hundred and Thirty Eight (438) respondents. Simple random sampling technique was adopted for the study with the employment of structured questionnaire to draw the required information from the respondents. This is due to the method’s ease of use and ability to accurately represent a large population. The descriptive statistics employed included simple percentages and tables, while inferential statistics used was regression. The findings of the study established that effective communication has positive and significant effect on the achievement of organizational goals ((R2=.0.975, F= 18.574 p<0.05)). The population of the study stood at 456 with the sample size of 213 which was determined with the use of Taro Yamane formula. Simple random sampling technique was used for the study with the employment of structured questionnaire to obtain the required Information from the respondents. The descriptive statistics adopted comprised simple percentage and tables, while inferential statistics used was Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between time management practice and employees’ effectiveness (N=192, r=.841, p=.000, <0.05). R.; Suleiman, A. A.The creation of new venture and its nurturing to a full blown business firm such as Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) is often seen as source of innovation and change. It is therefore Imperative that answers are provided to the question of why, how and what are the possible courses of failure that often led to the carly extinction of majority of firms few years after creation. The creation of many agencies and institutions to regulate and boost the growth and development of SMEs notwithstanding, SMEs still witnessed a low growth rate as entrepreneurs start businesses but are unable to turn them into sustainable enterprises. Therefore, this study seeks to determine whether or not entrepreneurial chorocteristics play any role in the creation of SMEs in Kwara State Other objectives of the study are to examine the influence of entrepreneurial characteristics on the creation of SMEs and determine the level of relationship that exists between/among entrepreneurial characteristics metrics and Innovativeness of entrepreneurs in Kwara State. Questionnaire was served to 144 out of 226 registered SMEs owners in Kwara State through simple random sampling technique. Only 137 were duly filled and returned giving 95% response rate. The two hypotheses formulated were tested through regression and correlation analysis. Findings of the study revealed that entrepreneurial characteristics have significant Influence on the creation and eventual development of SMEs (0.740, p-value <0.05) and that strong relationship exist between/among Entrepreneurial characteristics and innovation (P value<0.05). The study therefore recommends that owners and managers of SMEs should embark on rigorous training and retraining of business entrepreneurs since some of these characteristics are learnable, encourage membership synergy through information sharing about the existing market, product and services.Item Government regulations and survival of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES) in Kwara state.(Department of Public Administration, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, 2018) Amosa, J. K.Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) have been recognized by government and development experts, most especially the developing countries of Africa, as the main engine of economic growth and major factor in promoting private sector development and partnership. Nigeria has facilitated the growth of SMEs through the creation of many agencies, institutions and promulgation of laws and regulations that aid government in regulating and boosting the growth and development of SMEs. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the impact of government regulations on the survival of SMEs in Kwara State. Other specific objectives were to examine the extent to which government regulations influence the survival of SMEs and determine the nature of the relationship that exists between tax policy and growth of SMEs. Questionnaire was served to 144 out of 226 registered SMEs in Kwara State through stratified, simple random sampling technique. The two hypotheses formulated were tested through regression and correlation analysis. Findings of the study revealed that government regulations have significant influence on the survival of SMEs (r2=73.2%, pvalue< 0.05) and that strong relationship exist between tax policy and the growth of SMEs (Pvalue< 0.05). The study therefore recommends that government should legislate against multiple taxation and make funds available to regulatory agencies and financial institutions established statutorily to cater for the growth and survival of SMEs.Item HUMAN RESOURCE TRAINING AND ORGANISATIONAL GROWTH: A STUDY OF DANGOTE FLOUR MILLS PLC. A.The relevance of skill and knowledge enhancement to organisational growth cannot he over-emphasized as individual performance amounts to collective organisational growth. It is based on this assertion that this study investigated Dangote Flour Mills Plc. florin. Structured questionnaires were used to collect primary data from 145 simple randomly selected staff of the company. Multiple regression analysis was adopted in the analysis while the result indicated that the correlation co-efficient is 782 4.0.782). The result revealed that there is a strong positive linear relationship between organisation growth and human resource training. The study the concluded that effective training is primary to equipping employees for new roles that will facilitate the realization of the desired organisational growth. It then recommended that the management of Dangote Flour Mill Pic should lay more emphasis on the importance of training to improve organisational growth. This will be achieved through periodic skill and competency auditing that will reflect the skill shortages in the company. O.; Omolabi, I.Nigeria has recently witnessed a huge increase in the number of industrial actions. No day passes in Nigeria without strikes or threats of strikes in one form or another. In fact, industrial actions have become so endemic in Nigeria that even our courts would be prepared to take judicial notice of them. In the light of this, to avert this unhealthy trend, the promotion and development of collective bargaining has been proclaimed to be the most desirable medium n settling industrial conflicts in a work environment. This study is designed to critically examine the impact of collective bargaining on industrial conflicts resolution in Nigerian public universities. The study targeted academic staff of both states and federal universities in South-West geo-political zone of Nigeria, owing to their active participation in industrial actions. The sample size of 600 academic staff were selected from 6000 ASUU members in South-West geo-political zone. The use of collective bargaining has been found to have meaningfully contributed to industrial peace and harmony as well as effective medium in checking incidents of strikes, labour unrests and brain drain in Nigerian public universities. Hence, government should recognize and strengthen collective bargaining to have conducive atmosphere in Nigerian Universities.Item IMPACT OF ISLAMIC FINANCIAL SYSTEM ON ECONOMIC GROWTH: A STUDY OF JAIZ BANK PLC., ILORIN METROPOLIS(Department of Economics, Adamawa State University, Mubi, Nigeria, 2024) Omolabi, I.; Peleowo, T. K.Globally, Islamic finance is set to be one of the fastest-growing sectors. Islamic financial system prohibits interest payments and establishes equity and profit sharing for operational structure activities. As a result, this study sought to examine the impact of the Islamic finance system on economic growth in Jaiz Bank Plc. Horan Metropolis. Specifically, it will examine fit the extent to which philosophies of the Islamic financial system affect economic growth and (4) determine the extent to which Islamic financial intermediaries affect economic expansion. A cross-sectional survey was adopted using simple random sampling techniques. Data were obtained using a questionnaire distributed to 232 staff from a total population of 1,234. Hypotheses drawn are tested using regression analysis. The findings show a significant and positive impact of philosophies of the Islamic financial system on economic growth (22-0.393. p-value < 0.05) and Islamic financial intermediaries on economic expansion (R0.393, p-value < 0.05). The study concludes that a structural Islamic financial system positively and significantly impacts economic growth. The study recommends that managers endeavour to implement the philosophies of the Islamic financial system as it promotes the circulation of funds, which assists in the economy's growth.Item IMPACT OF QUALITY CONTROL ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIA: CASE STUDY OF SELECTED SMES IN ILORIN METROPOLIS(Centre for Entrepreneurship, Kwara State university, Malete, 2016) Kadiri, I. B.; Omolabi, I.; Adebayo, P. O.Organizations that want to exist in the current global market must put in place quality control processes that will guaranty improved and multi-functional products. This paper therefore examined the impact of quality control on the performances of Small and medium enterprises outputs. A detailed questionnaire was mailed to operators of SMEs in the manufacturing sector. 104 of the respondents correctly filled and returned their questionnaires representing a response rate of 82 per cent. The paper observed that expenditure on quality control on the average will lead to about 76 per cent rise in the profitability level of SMEs. This was as a result of the decline in wastages, less frictions and greater output that can compete favourably in the international market. The study therefore concluded that all efforts including the strengthening of government agencies should be put in place to guaranty products of high quality form the SMEs.
