Specifically, identifies the factors influencing increase in house rent; it also determines the effects of change in rent on household size and on the inhabitant in the study area. The twenty political wards within were used and five hundred (500) tenants were sampled systematically. The period covers twenty years (1992-2011). Focus Group Discussions (FGDS) were organized in different locations with tenants, landlords. caretakers and estate agents. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data gathered. The Trend reveals an increase over twenty year period considering rental classes. However, the low income group experienced highest rate of increase. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient revealed there is a significant relationship between income and rent paid. Factors that determine increase in house rent are population growth/demand , location, type of house, building materials, facilities in the house. environment and basic amenities available in neighborhood. Based on these, recommendations made include government assistance in providing more housing units at affordable rate. Since increase in population has been identified as one the factors influencing house rent, rural areas and medium-sized towns should therefore be developed so as to curb rural-urban migration.Item An Assessment of the Challenges and Prospects of Infrastructure Provision in Kwara State, Nigeria.(FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES, 2015-12) Afolayan, Ganiyu Popoola; Tunde, Afolabi Monisola; Adeniyi, Enekole EstherThe bias towards the medium-sized towns in infrastructure provision has prompted communities to provide these basic needs. This is especially germane in hydro-tourism industry where tourist destinations are often located in areas of intrinsic scenery that are exposed to hazards which can transform into disasters. Among the hazards that can develop in hydro-tourism destinations include flooding, high winds, sea level rise, swell waves and electrical shocks which can occur through switches, cables and circuits, especially when such destination is an hydro-power project. Myriads of vulnerabilities in hydro tourism destinations which can transform into disasters when not properly managed in the country have been categorized into three groups in this paper following Lindell, et. al.(2006) while different techniques of preventing such vulnerabilities from transforming to disasters were discussedItem Environmental Threats to Sustainable Tourism Development(Environment and the Challenge of Sustainable Development, 2018) Adedayo, Adebisi; Adeniyi, Enekole EstherItem Geography and Branches of Geography(Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ilorin, 2021) Raheem, Usman Adebimpe; Adeniyi, Enekole EstherItem Pattern and causes of fire incidents in Lagos State, Nigeria(Journal of geographic thought and environmental studies, 2016) Malik, Nurudeen Adesola; Adeleke, Elisha Ademola; Yahaya, Olanrewaju Yusuf; Adeniyi, Enekole Esther; Akinbode, G.
