Abstract

The relationship between linguistic duality and language acquisition is as old as language itself. Therefore, linguistic scholars paid great attention to studying it. Because it has become a sociolinguistic phenomenon shared by international languages, as the majority of a linguistic group speaks more than one language. This study is about diglossia and its impact on the child’s language. It aims to clarify the concept of diglossia, its factors, and what its effects are on the child’s language. It adopted the descriptive analytical approach and this study reached the most important results: (1) The existence of diglossia in the languages of the world in general (2) The seriousness of this The phenomenon on the child’s language (3) creates an unexpected problem for a non-native language learner.
