Item Adaptive Organisational Culture and Organisational Survival: A Study of LUBCON Nigeria LTD(Department of Marketing, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria., 2022-01) SULEIMAN, Ahmed Aremu; NASIRU, Liman ZuruOrganizational culture over time has not only been recognized as one of the critical resources for effective performance but also seen as one of the important tools for success in a dynamic business environment. However, apart from limited empirical evidence on the effect of adaptive culture on business survival, there were equally disparities in the conceptualization of the concept all over. Therefore, this study examines how LUBCON Nigeria Ltd uses adaptive culture variables to cope with the changing nature of the business environment. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design by obtaining primary data with the use of structured and self-administered questionnaires to 216 respondents out of 470 staff of LUBCON Nigeria Ltd. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses set for the study. The result of the study showed that adaptive organizational culture significantly impacts organizational survival (R-Square of 0.388, p-value=0.0001). The study concluded that cultural adaptation influences the survival of the organization. The study therefore recommended that business organizations should promote adaptive cultural variables to boost their survival level in a dynamic business environment.Item Corporate Entrepreneurship: Challenges of Entrepreneurial Development in Fast Moving Consumer Goods Companies in South-west, Nigeria(Departments of Accounting & Finance and Business Administration Fountain University , Oshogbo, Nigeria, 2017) OMOLABI, Issa; AMOSA, Jimoh Rafiu; SULEIMAN, Ahmed AremuThe rate at which companies shut down their operations in developing countries requires the need to examine the challenges of entrepreneurial development in Fast Moving Consumer Goods Company in South- West Nigeria. This study therefore: identifies the challenges of entrepreneurial development; and examines the relationship between employee intrapreneurial behavior and organization performance. In an attempt to achieve these objectives, two hundred and five (205) respondents were sampled from junior staff to management to executive level within the key drivers in the fast-moving consumer goods in South-West Nigeria. Findings from the study revealed that employee innovation (Pearson Correlation =.958, p<0.001), risk taking (Pearson Correlation = .947, p<0. 001), educational attainment (Pearson Correlation =941, p<0.00), desire for autonomy (Pearson Correlation =.884, p<0.001), proactiveness (Pearson Correlation 848, p<0.001) and internal locus of control (Pearson Correlation = .824, p0001) have statistically significant relationship with performance. The study therefore recommended that management should be cognizant of the inability to recognize and exploit business opportunities, poor communication channels, inability to change from present status of operation. Also, companies should provide a supporting environment that will foster risk taking, employee innovation, proactiveness, desire for autonomy, internal locus of control and educational attainment.Item COVID-19 Pandemic and Patronage of Household Consumables in Sokoto Metropolis(Department of Entrepreneurship Studies, Faculty of Management Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, 2021-12) SULEIMAN, Ahmed AremuIn an attempt to contain the spread of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, the Federal Government put in place different measures among which was the restriction of movement in terms of lockdown and curfew as well as expert directives. This to a larger extent has not only affected the economic activities of the people in the communities by obstructing the existing and incoming potential buyers and suppliers of the household consumables that are necessary for their survival but also lower the patronage of the available household consumables across the globe. However, very few or none of the reviewed studies have investigated how COVID-19 protocols have affected the patronage of household consumables in Sokoto metropolis. Hence, this study, examines the effect of COVID-19 guidelines on patronage of household consumables in Sokoto metropolis. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study as primary data were obtained through the use of questionnaire from 384 respondents that were conveniently selected within Sokoto metropolis. The result of the statistical analysis through the use of multiple regression revealed that COVID-19 guidelines influenced the patronage of consumable goods (with R2 = .664 and P-value ≤ 0.05). It therefore concluded that COVID-19 guidelines have significant impact on customer patronage of consumable household in Sokoto metropolis. The study therefore recommended that customers should give equal level of adherence to all the guidelines set aside by the Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) for both the supermarkets and markets. This is because when there is live there is hope.Item Effect of E-Business on Customer Relationship Management on Online Stores (A Study of Jumia Nigeria Plc)(Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Economics Department of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria., 2019) OMOLA BI, Issa; SULEIMAN, Ahmed Aremu; AMOSA, Jimoh RafiuIn today's world business environment e-business has become a critical business resource to almost every organization, despite customers baffle seriously with some challenges encountered in its operation. These challenges are not limited to difficulties in navigating all necessary checkout pages on an e-commerce website, insecurity and lack of privacy to customers information supplied online. It is in relation to the above that the current study decided to examine the effect of e-commerce website quality on customer satisfaction as well as determine the effect of e-business strategies on customers' patronage in online stores. Survey research design was adopted and administered 384 copies of questionnaire to the respondents. The result of the hypotheses tested through regression analysis revealed that there was a significant effect of e-commerce website quality on customer satisfaction. This was evidenced with R² value of 0.57 and P-value of O. 000. Also, that e-business strategy has a significant effect on Customer patronage. This was evidenced by R² value of 0. 665, with probability value of less than 0.05. The study therefore, concluded that customer satisfaction is influenced by e- commerce website quality, Also, customer patronage is highly influenced by e-business strategies in online stores. It is therefore recommended that online store owners and managers should make maximum usage of the e-business model as part of the emerging ICT revolution, which could serve as opportunity and sometimes threat to their businesses. Thus, all aspect of e-business operation should be closely monitored and continuously scanned to help the business stay relevant and meet the expectation of all stakeholders including their customers.Item EFFECT OF JOB ENRICHMENT STRATEGIES ON THE PERFORMANCE OF EMPLOYEES IN KAMWIRE HOLDINGS ILORIN, KWARA STATE, NIGERIA(Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria., 2023-12) AMOSA, Jimoh Rafiu; SALMAN, Abdulrasaq; SULEIMAN, Ahmed Aremu; ABOGUNRIN, Abiodun PeterThe complexities of modern business operations demand a clear departure from the traditional ideological orientation of prioritizing the use of monetary rewards as the most cherished motivational tool to obtain workers concurrence and higher performance but rather a more robust work-related employee performance oriented strategies one of which is job enrichment. This is important to avert job monotony, boredom and all forms of operationally induced workplace dissatisfaction that is associated with highly bureaucratic and over-controlled authority structure. Therefore, this study sought to examine the effect of job enrichment strategies on employee performance with reference to KAMWIRE holdings Ilorin. Other specific objectives of the study were to: examine the effect of job enrichment strategies on employee engagement; and (ii) to determine the effect of job enrichment strategies on employee quality of work. The population of the study is 1,621 out of which 318 respondents were given questionnaire through a multi stage selection technique. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) were adopted for analysis. The results showed that job enrichment strategies have positive and significant effect on employee engagement as well as quality of work in the organisation studied. In conclusion, job enrichment strategies have positive and significant effect on employee engagement as well as quality of work. Therefore, to bring OCB to employees, organisational culture is required. However, the lack of administrative will to entrench a culture that encourage the exhibition of OCB by employees has been an impediment to the survival of many organizations. Thus, this study examined the effect of organizational culture on employees' organisational citizenship behaviour in Nigerian Manufacturing industry using selected culture and OCB variables with reference to Sunflag plc. Lagos. The specific objectives of the study were to: examine the effect of people oriented culture on employee sportsmanship behaviour and evaluate the effect of result oriented culture on employee conscientiousness. Questionnaire was served to the sampled respondents of 297 gotten with taro Yamane sample size determination formula from 1150 employee of the organisation, through a multi stage sampling technique (stratified to take care of each level of staff and simple random to pick from each strata). Regression analysis were adopted to test the two hypotheses formulated for the study. Results from the study revealed that people oriented culture has a significant and positive effect on sportsmanship (R'= 0.581: p-value<0.05) and that results oriented culture has significant influence on employee conscientiousness (R'=0.661: p-value<0,05). The study concluded that organizational culture in its various forms has significant impact on employees' corporate citizenship behaviour. If properly managed, technology can guarantee the production of quality output. Unfortunately, many business managers failed to properly monitor, manage, and cope with the constant technology change. This has brought serious setbacks to the competitive ability of the textile firms in Nigeria compared to their foreign counterparts in terms of product quality. Thus, this paper sought to examine the effect of managing technological change on the product quality of selected textile manufacturing firms in Lagos State. The specific objectives are to: (i) determine the extent to which training influences an organization's product performance and (ii) determine the extent to which technology institutionalization influences an organization's product conformance. To achieve these objectives, a cross-sectional survey design was employed. A study population of 4115 with a sample size of 365 employees gotten through the Taro Yamane sample size determination formula made up respondents for the study. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested. The statistical technique used was multiple regression analysis. The results showed that a statistically strong and positive relationship exists between training and product performance (R square =0.66, p<0.05) and that technology institutionalization has a positive and significant influence on product conformance (R square = 0.585, p<0.05). This indicated that managing technology change as it evolves has a positive and significant impact on product quality. The paper recommended that organization managers should take the issue of technology change management seriously through training and the institutionalization of the new technology to upgrade employees' skills and competence that leads to the production of high-quality products at low cost.Item Effective Business Communication and Organisation Profitability: Evidence from Selected Retail Outlets in Lagos State, Nigeria.(Depatment of Businesss Administration, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai., 2016-12) KADIRI, Ismaila Bolarinwa (Ph.D); SULEIMAN, Ahmed AremuThe Nigerian business environment has been opened to the outside world, hence organizations that cannot convey the message of their products to the consumers may be priced out of markets. The inability of organizations to effectively communicate their products has been confirmed to reduce their income level thereby leading to low profitability. This is partly due to their inability to effectively communicate their business to the consumers of their products or services. These are attributable to factors such as poor and ineffective communication between the producer or suppliers of products and the potential consumer (customer). Primary data were collected using detailed questionnaire and analyzed. With an R2 of 51.9, it posits that 51.9 percent of profitability level are determined by effective communication. The study revealed that existence of effective business communication in an organization has a positive effect on goal achievement; enhancement of customer patronage and overall business development and this will lead to organizational profitability. It is therefore imperative that answers are provided to the question of why, how and what are the possible courses of failure that often led to the early extinction of majority of firms few years after creation. The creation of many agencies and institutions to regulate and boost the growth and development of SMEs notwithstanding, SMEs still witnessed a low growth rate as entrepreneurs start businesses but ore unable to turn them into sustainable enterprises. Therefore, this study seeks to determine whether or not entrepreneurial characteristics play any role in the creation of SMEs in Kwara State. Other objectives of the study are to: examine the influence of entrepreneurial characteristics on the creation of SMES and determine the le vel of relationship that exists between/among entrepreneurial characteristics metrics and innovative ness of entrepreneurs in Kwara State. Questionnaire was served to 144 out of 226 registered SMEs owners in Kwara State through simple random sampling technique. Only 137 were duly filled and returned giving 95% response rate. The two hypotheses formulated were tested through regression and correlation analysis. Findings of the study revealed that entrepreneurial characteristics have significant influence on the creation and eventual development of SMEs (r'=0.740, p-value<0.05) and that strong relationship exist between/among Entrepreneurial characteristics and innovation (P- value<0.05). Nigeria has facilitated the growth of SMEs through the creation of many agencies, institutions and promulgation of laws and regulations that aid government in regulating and boosting the growth and development of SMEs. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the impact of government regulations on the survival of SMEs in Kwara State. Other Specific objectives were to examine the extent to which government regulations influence the survival of SMEs and determine the nature of the relationship that exists between tax policy and growth of SMEs. Questionnaire was served to 144 out of 226 registered SMEs in Kwara State through stratified, simple random sampling technique. The two hypotheses formulated were tested through regression and correlation analysis. Findings of the study revealed that government regulations have significant influence on the survival of SMES (r-73.2%. p- values ˂ 0.05) and that strong relationship exist between tax policy and the growth of SMEs (P-values ˂ 0.05). The objective of this study is to determine the impact of brand management on brand image in a multiproduct company in Nigeria with a case study of Unilever Company Plc. The study utilizes primary data sourced from respondents with 150 sample size that was conveniently selected. Copies of the Questionnaire were administered and the results were analyzed using regression. A coefficient of determination of 0.891, with p-value of 0.000 reveals that brand management variables account for 89.1% changes in the variation of Brand Image while other factors accounted for 10.9 with a nearly perfect positive correlation coefficient of .994, which shows that there is a strong relationship between the brand management and brand image in the in a multiproduct company. The study concludes that brand management factors have an influence on brand image and as well place it in the mind of the consumers. The paper recommended that brand managers in the Multiproduct Oriented Company should ensure to see that brand management factors (such as Product Quality, and Usage experience) are scrutinized and fueled to ensure that they turn out to a good image.Item Impact of ICT in the Management of SMES Turnover in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State, Nigeria(Depertment of Business Administration, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, 2016) KADIRI, Ismaila Bolarinwa (Ph.D); SULEIMAN, Ahmed AremuSmall and Medium-Scale Enterprise (SMES) play a very important role in the process of industrialization and sustainable economic growth. SMEs die as soon as they are established because their production process, marketing of their output as well as turnover are often neglected thereby almost impossible to estimate their growth pattern. The emergence of computer applications for SMEs will result in the growth of the Internet and other communication network, a growing diversity of business transactions, and increased competition. The Internet is fast becoming the foundation for new business models, processes, and marketing of industrial products. This study therefore examined the impact of computer applications on the management of small business operations in the Ilorin Metropolis. A structured questionnaire was administered to respondents and the linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data obtained. The result of the ANOVA of 0.001 signifies that SMEs that use ICT in the management of their turnovers are more profitable than those that do not use it. The paper therefore recommends that SMES should intensify its efforts in the use of ICT in their operation to enhance their productivity.Item Impact of Strategic Reward and Compensation Practices on Performance of Union Bank Ple in Ilorin Metropolis(The Faculty of Management Sciences, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria., 2022-01) SULEIMAN, Ahmed Aremu; AYOOLA, Olorunfemi JosephThe success of any business organization in today's ever-changing business world is attributable to its ability to compete favourably in the market. Therefore, strategic reward and compensation practices become vital tools used by managers of different organizations to stimulate the activities of the employees to act towards achieving the set objectives of the organization. Hence, the main focus of the study is to examine the effect of strategic reward and compensation practices on employees' performance. The descriptive survey research method was adopted for the study. A total of 53 copies of the structured questionnaire were administered to the respondents to obtain the necessary primary data. Simple regression was used for testing the formulated hypotheses. The result of the analysis revealed that strategic reward and compensation practices have a significant influence on the performance of employees (R= 0.949 and p-value less than 0.05). The study concluded that there is a significant effect of strategic reward and compensation practices on employees' performance. Other specific objectives were to: examine the impact of participative management on employee job performance; and, evaluate the relationship between indirect participation dimensions and employee job satisfaction. A questionnaire was served to 240 out of 600 employees of the manufacturing organization through stratified, simple random sampling techniques. Two Hypotheses formulated were tested through regression and correlation analysis. The findings revealed that PM had a significant influence on employee job performance (r2 = 76.5%, p-value < 0.05) and that indirect participation dimensions and employee job satisfaction correlated (P-value < 0.05). Therefore, this study seeks to examine whether or not reward system management play any role on employees' job performance in Nigerian public enterprises. The specific objectives of the study were to: (i) determine the relationship between elements of reward management system and employees' job performance and to (ii) examine the extent to which intrinsic and extrinsic reward influences employees 'job satisfaction. The study adopted a survey research design through the use of a well-structured questionnaire to elicit the needed information from the respondents. The study adopted a census approach by using the total population of 78 staff of the organisation. Correlation and Multiple regression analysis were used to test the formulated hypotheses. The result of the correlation analysis revealed that strong and significant relationship exist between elements of reward management system and employees' job performance; and that intrinsic and extrinsic rewards have significant influence on employee 's job Satisfaction (R Square of 0.635, p-value=0.0001). The study concluded that reward management system elements have significant relationship as well as good influence on employees' job performance and that intrinsic and extrinsic rewards have significant influence on employee's job Satisfaction. The study therefore recommended that government Should make very serious policies regarding the provision of rewards and welfare packages for employees of the government owned telecommunication organizations if the purpose that calls for their establishment are to be achieved.
