Christian Religious Studies (CRS) curriculum is included in the school not only as a school teaching subject lout as a means of fostering the religious, spiritual and moral development of the students. This paper therefore examined the objectives of CRS curriculum in the school curriculum and the teaching of CRS in Nigerian senior secondary schools. It argues that the teaching of CRS is to develop the cognitive skills. learning to think and develop emotional maturity through motivation of high sense of morality, a sense of self identity and to relate with others harmoniously. The paper also look at the significance of teaching CRS in order to bring about spiritual and moral development of the students so that they can be worthy both in character and learning arid at the end be good ambassadors to their families and the nation at large.Item Influence of Irregular Salary Payment on the Performance and Productivity of Public Primary School Teachers in Ilorin South L.G.A., Kwara State, Nigeria(Department of Arts and Social Science Education , Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 2019-05) Ojo, Oludare David; AbdulGaniyu, Salman Sebutu; Bibire, Abdulkareen SanniThe researcher is concern about the late payment of primary school teachers' salaries in Kwara state and the non-payment of their fringe benefits as it may have effect on their performance in the classroom. It ma y be observed that motivating teachers by regular payment of their salaries tend to make them active and effective in the delivery of their work or teaching. This study therefore, investigated the influence of irregular salary payment on the performance and productivity of public primary school teachers in Ilorin South/L. G.A, Kwara State. A total number of 754 pupils, 63 head teachers and assistant head teachers were involved as sample for the study. Purposive sampling technique and Simple random sampling techniques were used to select the sample. A questionnaire was carefully designed for the purpose of gathering relevant information from the respondents. Three hypotheses were formulated for the study and data collected were tested using Pearson product- moment correlation statistics. The findings revealed that there was a significant relationship between the performance and productivity of public primary school teachers and academic performance of students in Ilorin South Local Government Area, kwara State. Based on the fingings it is recommended that government should be fully committed to the prompt payment of teachers’ salaries and other benefits so that their effectiveness could be enhanced. Fringe benefits such as housing scheme loans, car loans, health insurance scheme and a host of others should also be made available. This paper examined the concept of Quality assurance, its component and the role of the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Quality assurance. The country is supposed to be a country flowing with milk and honey if the human, material, technological and natural resources could be utilized to its optimum. However, the opposite is the case because the indices of development can not be visibly seen. The problem might be as a result of the problems that is plaguing the country like corrupt of ,violent crisis, kidnapping killing different dimension but just to mention a few. All these are impediments the progress and development of Nigeria. The paper therefore opined that the teaching of religious education should be vigorously pursued in order to awake the moral and spiritual wellbeing and potential of the citizens to be patriotic focused,disciplinedandhaveachangeofattitvdeinordertotakethecountryuntogreater heights. The task of religious education should be to encourage peaceful co-existence among adherents and join hands to take Nigeria to an enviable height. A country that is faced with such problems will lack the wherewithal to bring about sustainable development. This paper is, therefore, advocating the teaching and practising of ethical re-orientation and moral standard through religious education in order to bring about stable, disciplined and morally upright citizens of this nation. Data were gathered from books, journals and newspapers, and critically analysed. The paper posits that Religious education is a pathway to developing and harnessing both human and natural resources for sustainable development and submits that science d technology cannot do it alone without bringing religious education. suggestions and recommendations are made on how to attain sustainable development for this generation and those coming behind.Item Teachers Effectiveness as a correlate of Students Academic Achievement in Christian Religious Studies in Ondo State(Nigerian Journal of Educational Foundations, 2019-06) Ojo, Oludare DavidThis paper investigated teachers’ effectiveness as correlates of students' academic achievement in Ondo State. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The instrument used to elicit information for the study were Teachers' Rating Scale and Christian Religious Studies Achievement Test. Twelve teachers and two hundred and forty students were selected from four local governments in Ondo State. Findings revealed that teachers' effectiveness was low and there was significant difference on students achievement due to teachers gender. It was suggested that government should organize and provide opportunities for training and retraining seminars, workshops and conferences.Item Teachers' Evaluation of Senior Secondary School Christian Religious Studies Curriculum Objectives and Contents in Ondo State, Nigeria(Department of Arts Education, Faculty of Education, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, 2019) Ojo, Oludare DavidThe objective of any programme of study is very important because it is the anchor on which the content of the curriculum is hinged. lt is therefore paramount that the key variables of the curriculum be evaluated after some years of implementation. This study is concerned with the teachers’ evaluation of Senior Secondary School Christian Religious curriculum objectives and content in Ondo State. All the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) teachers in the three senatorial districts were used as population for the study. A purposive sampling technique was used to select a total of two hundred and fifty (25O) CRS Teachers as sample. Researcher-designed questionnaire was used for the for purpose of collecting relevant information from the respondents. Two research questions were raised for the study and the data collected were answered using descriptive statistics of frequency count and percentage. The findings revealed that the curriculum. objectives and content were adequate find suitable for achieving the goals of the curriculum. II was, therefore, recommended that the curriculum should be sustained and implemented by all stakeholders.
