    Ori-Oke is the yoruba term for mountain prayer. In recent time, the prayer phenomenon is increasing and making impact on the social psyche of the people. Ilorin in the North-central Nigeria seems to be taking the lead. With historical method the papers discusses the increase in prayer mountains and how it is bringing about social changes.

The study aims at giving the overview of the nature, growth and competing to win souls on the mountains. Using historical method, the paper outlines the characters and styles of the various prayer mountains that are in Ilorin.
