EMERGING ADULTS' REPORTED COMMUNICATION WITH THEIR PARENTS ABOUT SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR
(Social Sciences and Humanities Reviews, 2018) Fawole, Olufemi Adeniyi
Parents communication with their children while at adolescent age, particularly on sexual issues has been seen to be quite important in the life of such children, especially as they emerge into adulthood. Studies have shown peer pressure, social and mass media, among other factors, as having significant influence on these behaviors. However, not many studies have been carried out in Iwo, Nigeria, especially on the level of communication between parents and adolescents on sexual matters. This is perhaps due to cultural restrictions that make open discussion of sexual related issues, especially with and among children, to be frowned upon. This study therefore examines the level of the discussions with the parents and adolescents as well as the influence these discussions have had on their sexual lives. Two hundred and thirty-eight students in their final year, from the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences of Bowen University took part in this study by filling out questionnaires. Three focus group discussions were also conducted. Results were analyzed using linear regression and thematic analysis. Results showed that the inadequate discussions, which the emerging adults had with their parents, certainly did predispose them to engaging in sexual behavior during their adolescent years. A number of the participants had found it difficult to talk with their parents on such matters and had obtained distorted information from other sources such as friends and the mass media. The study therefore hopes to add to literature for Nigeria and then provoke further more in-depth studies in the same area of interest.

(Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, 2022) Fawole, Olufemi Adeniyi; Balogun, Obasanjo Solomon; Akangbe, Tomisin Adedunmola
Entrepreneurship has become accepted as an imperative means to improve livelihood, boost job creation and ensure economic independence. Economic dependence on their abusers is one of the reasons battered women may not quit abusive relationships, hence the need to have a steady means of sustenance both for themselves and their children. In-depth interview from ten female survivors of Intimate partner violence, were analysed using the content analysis procedure, which was further predicated on the 1988 Gondolf and Fisher Survivor theory. The study revealed that female survivors of IPV were able to cater to their needs through the financial aids received from the State Government and also through their participation in the skill training and acquisition programmes put in place by the State. Entrepreneurship, when embraced can be the solution to this over-reliance of women on their abusive partners. This paper looks at the role entrepreneurship can play in empowering women especially those who suffer economic abuse in intimate relationships.

Family Members' Attitudes to the Chronically Ill in Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria
(Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, University of Ilorin, 2009) Fawole, Olufemi Adeniyi
Chronic conditions are health conditions that are long-term (more than three months) and often permanent, leaving a residual disability that may require long-term management or race rather than a cure. These conditions are often accompanied by continuous pain and/or distress. Some of the common chronic disease include sickle cell anemia, hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes, arthritis, stroke, breast cancer and prostate cancer, just as families all over the world are diverse, so are their reactions to illness, for some, the problems that come with illness can dominate family life and leave little energy or finance for "normal" family activities. In other instances, family operations and illness are interrelated such that families only function adequately if someone is sick (Minucin and Fishman, 1981).
