An analysis of leadership styles and their implications on conflict resolution in today’s workplace: A gender and personality perspective.
(Faculty of Arts, Adeleke University. Nigeria, 2019-11) Ajiboye, Olubukola Oluyemisi
Leadership is defined as the process of acquisition of relevant skills an individual or organization requires to lead, guide, direct, coordinate, oversee or mentor other individuals, teams or entire organizations with a view to effecting a change for the better. While it is clearly one of the inherent traits of human nature, leadership can also be consciously cultured. Scholarly research in the Social Sciences has led to the identification of several leadership styles including autocratic or authoritarian leadership, participative or democratic leadership, laissez faire, transformational or transactional leadership. In organizations, conflict is regarded as the presence of discord that occurs when the goals, interests or values of different individuals or groups are incompatible and disrupts each other's attempt to achieve objectives. There are different views surrounding the origin of conflict in organizations and institutions. Since time immemorial, mankind has been presented with conflict. Conflict itself appears to be inevitable; it is a natural consequence of human interaction. In today's workplace, as a result of increased education and enlightenment, it has become more common to have women occupying the higher echelons of management positions: a place formerly reserved for men. Historical research's both past and current which is a form of qualitative research method was utilized with a focus on primary and secondary data obtained through the use of content analysis. The theoretical base for this study analyzes the concept of social role and role congruency theory as well as other frameworks such as conflict style approach by Thomas (1976) and Thomas and Kilmann (2002). This paper likewise seeks to critique the significant difference in how gender and personality differences affect how leaders resolve conflict in the workplace. The study concludes that gender should not be a major consideration in conflict resolution when the major goal is to accomplish fulfillment of organizational objectives.

Use of social media and reading habits among undergraduate students in University of Ilorin, Kwara State
(Department of Library and Information Science, University of Ilorin, 2019-12-15) Ajiboye, Olubukola Oluyemisi
A descriptive study was conducted among undergraduate students of the University of Ilorin to investigate social media use on their reading habits . The total population consists of 43,983 full-time undergraduates and purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample population from the faculties of Arts and Communication and Information Sciences which had a total population of 6,202 . Slovin formula was used to select a total sample of 376 students. A four point Likert Type Rating Scale Questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents Three research questions guided the study and to achieve a very fine result, descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Based on the results of the findings it can be concluded that social media has both positive and negative effects on the reading pattern of students. This is because they access social media everyday and spend more than one hour reading , social media has increased their access to foreign information. But social media has also had negative effects on their reading habit of academic textbooks because they have not completely read a textbook in the last few months, they have reduced usage of print since they started reading online ( since academic textbooks online do not come cheap) which can affect their academic performance. Finally, University of Ilorin students prefer reading news on social media to print newspapers which can make them to be grossly misinformed. Sources of news on the internet are highly infilterated and not validated. This can be misleading with a lot of fake news which can lead to social unrest.

The study investigated the use of social media engagement strategies among librarians in Osun State, South-West Nigeria during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Three research questions guided the study. The study adopted a survey research design and online survey form was used as instrument for data collection. The population of the study comprised of professional librarians on the Nigerian Library Association Osun state Chapter and convenience sampling was used. This was largely due to the fact that lockdown banned activities across the states and the only way they could be reached was online. Online forms were distributed in the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) Osun State WhatsApp group and 38 forms were found usable. The study showed that librarians shared content on social media multiple times daily mostly through writing and electronic word-of –mouth activities during the COVID-19 pandemic and this led to increase in audience growth and engagement (likes, shares, mentions, views). (Ess Ess Publications, New Delhi. India, 2021-07-15) Ajiboye, Olubukola Oluyemisi
The study investigated the influence of social media marketing strategies on infopreneurship in Nigeria during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Four research questions and a hypothesis guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive research design and online survey form was used as instrument of data collection. The population of the study comprised all the members of the NALISE who are infopreneurs. Convenience sampling was used to sample the population because of the incidence of COVID-19 in the country which necessitated a shut down on schools across the states and online administration of the instrument was considered the most effective for data collection. The online survey form was dropped at the NALISE Whatsapp group chat and 23 forms were found usable. The study showed that there was a positive influence of social media marketing strategies on infopreneurship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Likewise, there was also an increase in sales with the use of social media. The study recommended that LIS professionals should engage in infopreneurship and also adopt the use of social media in their businesses to take advantage of the wide reach and customer relationship management that social media offers.
