Abstract
The study investigated security challenges of library collections in University of Ilorin library. The research was guided by four research questions. The target population consisted of the 97 library staff working in the University of Ilorin, library. Stratified random sampling was used to sample the population. Forty-one copies of the questionnaire were administered and forty-one copies were found usable representing 100% return rate. The findings from the study showed that materials most vulnerable to security challenge are the textbooks in the library and the causes of security challenges in the library based on the findings of this study are overindulgence of staff, non-availability of CCTV inside the library, ineffective security policy and unstable power supply. The study recommended that the library management should make provisions of installing security cameras inside the library in order to be able to monitor the activities of users in the library amongst others.
