Item Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme and Food Security in Nigeria(Department of Environmental Studies, 2017) Ijaiya, M.A.; Abdulraheem, A.; Ijaiya, M.A.; Abdullahi, Ibrahim BelloUsing a time subscript and a difference-in-difference estimator that describes the changes in food crops as a function of changes in ACGS, this paper examines the influence of changes in ACGS loan on food crops output over the years. The result shows that only the initial level of ACGS on food crops has helped moved food security more than the changes experience in recent time. Thus, government should put in place an effective legislation that would establish a reliable ground rules for consistent and equitable application of ACGS and stable macroeconomic policies that would sustained it.Item An Appraisal of Usefulness of Break-even Analysis to Business Managers in Decision Making(ADSU Journal of Social and Development Studies, An Interdisciplinary Journal of Research, Policy and Development Studies, 2009) Isiaka, S. B.; Abdulraheem, A.The focus of study is an appraisal of usefulness of break-even analysis to business managers in decision making. The study relied on both qualitative and quantitative analysis of data. A total of 120 copies of the questionnaire were administered out of which 85 copies were however returned and fond suitable for analysis. The data obtained through questionnaire were analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics such as frequency distribution and a strong and robust non-paramentric statistics called G-Test, respectively. The results of the analysis showed that Break-Even Analysis is useful to Business Managers in Decision Making. The recommendations based on the findings are breakeven analysis can be used not only for manufacturing companies, but also for companies that provide services; in using breakeven analysis in decision making all the information which is relevant must be available; and to effectively use break-even analysis in decision making all the data must be expressed in monetary value and relating to costs and revenues as measured by the management accountant.Item An Assessment of the Role of Microfinance Banks in Entrepreneurial Development in Selected Rural Areas in Kwara State(Akungba Journal of Management, 2012) Isiaka, S. B.; Abdulraheem, A.; Salman, A.The concept of microfinance Is not a new phenomenon; as it has operated for centuries in many forms in various economies of the world. The objective of this is to assess the role of Microfinance banks in relation to entrepreneurship development in rural areas of Kwara State. 300 copies of structured questionnaire were randomly distributed to selected respondents in rural areas of Kwara state: this was analysis with the use of Regression technique. The findings indicate that there is an impact of microfinance on the development of entrepreneurship in selected rural areas of Kwara state. The study therefore recommends that; practitioners in the microfinance industry must appreciate that financial sustainability is important for cash flow requirements of the entrepreneur in the rural areas.Item Determinant of financing options of small business in Kwara State, Nigeria(Kogi Journal of Management, Published by the Faculty of Management Sciences, Kogi State University, Anyigba, Kogi State., 2011-06) Abdulraheem, A.; Yahaya, K. A.Nigeria is a country blessed with large numbers of small businesses especially in agriculture, craft and artisans as such there is the need for small business enterprises to have access to efficient finance. The study is therefore aimed at investigating the determinant of financing options of small business in Kwara state, Nigeria. A structured questionnaire was randomly distributed among owners of 300 small business spread among the three senatorial district of the mile. A logistic regression model was adopted for the study in the form of Y=a+ B1X1 + B2x2 + B3x3+ B4X4+B5X5+e. Finding shows that 82 percent of respondents will rather go to the debt market rather than absorb equity holders. It was also discovered that majority of the respondents were aware of the existence of formal institution but they do not have assets that can be used as collateral. The study concludes that the inaccessibility of formal financial institution is a major constrain to Finance. It was therefore recommended that support should be given through micro finance institutions to support people with sound business ideals.Item Financial Meltdown on the Capital Market: A Study of the Nigerian Stock Market Exchange(Academy of Taiwan Business Management Review, 2011) Yahaya, K. Until quite recently, the Nigerian capital market was the toast of many enlightened Nigerians both home and abroad. This research study investigated the impact of financial meltdown on the capital market with particular reference to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). In carrying out the study, survey research design was adopted and thirty (30) observations were drawn each from the periods before the crash and after the menace. Using Z test statistical analysis, two hypotheses tested with respect to NSE All Share Index (ASI) and market capitalisation were rejected implying that the tests were statistically significant. On the contrary, the hypothesis tested on NSE market turnover was accepted meaning that the observed difference in the values was statistically insignificant. Similarly, using market model, it was discovered that there were significant changes in individual quoted securities and expected returns in the period under consideration. Above all, the findings of the study revealed that the financial meltdown impacted negatively on the operational performance and efficiency of the Nigerian stock market. This study examined the pattern of banks distribution in lIorin metropolis. Field survey was employed in determining the number or available commercial hanks and their respective distances between each other. The spatial analysis technique such as the nearest neighbour analysis as used ascertain the degree of clustering, density and the average distance taken to access these services. The study revealed that about 9% of the total number of banks arc situated in the Central Business District which exhibited a very a high degree of clustering (Rn = 0.59). This cased interbank interactions within the CBD as the average interbank distance is 0.37kl11 and with a little measure of cost to customers who reside outside the CBD. It also discovercd that a branch of U.B.A. PLC 'was the only bank located in interior (traditional/unbanked) of Ilorin metropolis. A.; Yahaya, K. A.; Abdulraheem, A.; Isiaka, S. B.Government budget is a government plan on how public resources are to be utilized to meet certain objectives designed to improve the general well-being of the citizenry. This study examined the level of transparency and accountability in budget implementation in kwara state, Nigeria. Both primary and secondary data were used in the study. The primary data were collected using structured questionnaire administered to stakeholders who are officers of the sampled government ministries, departments, Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) legislators from Kwara State House of Assembly and civil society groups while secondary data were obtained from published annual reports of Kwara State. The data collected were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and correlation statistics. The analyses revealed that the existing level of budget implementation was commendable. There was a significant relationship between transparency and accountability in public sector budgeting implementation in the State. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that mercenaries of Kwara State Government involved in approval and release of funds should reduce administrative procedures, without compromising the need for judicious use of funds so as to fast track the release of funds and implementation of developmental programmes.
