dc.description.abstractThe place of resources {human and material} and its management in achieving school effectiveness in secondary schools cannot be over-emphasized. It is against this background that this study examined resource management and school effectiveness in secondary schools in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. The study is a descriptive study of the survey type. The population of the study consisted of all the principals, vice principals and head of departments of public secondary schools in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 91 respondents from 13 secondary schools in the Local Government Area.The main and six operational hypotheses were raised and tested for the study. The data were collected using a researcher made questionnaire titled Resource Management Questionnaire (RMQ) and Student’s Academic Performance format (SAPF) which was analyzed using Person Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). Findings revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between resource management and school effectiveness in secondary schools in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. This implies that staff development, staff relations, utilization and maintenance of classroom, utilization and maintenance of staff office, utilization and maintenance of library will go a long way in improving school effectiveness in secondary schools in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. It was recommended that resources should be made available by the government and also be properly utilized and maintained. This study further recommended among others that the school administrators and staff should endeavor to imbibe and improve on maintenance culture so that the limited available resources could be highly managed effectively and efficiently. In conclusion, effective and efficiency of resource management would enable the school administrators to achieve the set goals and objectives of the educational system at the end of the dayen_US
