Abstract
Education as a veritable tool for individual and societal development need to receive utmost attention at all time. This has been the reason why various channels are created to avail all citizens opportunities of getting educated so that they would be useful to themselves and the society at large. Prominent among the educational programmes in Nigeria is Universal Basic Education (UBE) which was launched by the Federal Government with the purpose of availing all Nigerian children of school age opportunity to basic education. Among the remarkable steps taken by the Federal Government of Nigeria within the purview of the UBE programme is the establishment of Almajiri schools with the purpose of integrating the Almajiri pupils in the UBE programe. Thus, attempt was made in this paper to present an overview of the Integrated (UBE) Almajiri Education programme with a view to revealing its relevance in the implementation of UBE Programme. Information was sourced from print and electronic materials. It was established in the paper that the National Basic Education programme for (integrated) Almajiri schools is an educational programme planned, designed and implemented by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It was concluded in the paper that the programme is an enthusiastic embarkation and as such, the government and all the stakeholders involved should not relent in ensuring the smooth running of the programme
