dc.description.abstractAbstract The study examined instructional supervision and school effectiveness in Kwara State public secondary schools. The purpose of the study include to, examine the relationship that exists between instructional supervision and school effectiveness and school effectiveness in Kwara state public secondary schools. The research design used for this study was a descriptive survey of correlation type. Two hundred and sixty out of 2497 teachers were selected as respondents in the study through systematic random sampling technique. Self designed questionnaire titled: “Instructional Supervision Questionnaire” (ISQ) and Proforma were used to obtain necessary data from the respondents. One main and three operational hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used to test the formulated hypotheses at 0.5 level of significance. The findings of the study show that; schools in Kwara State were fairly effecetive and that instructional supervision is regularly conducted. It was also revealed that there is a significant relationship between instructional supervision and school effectiveness in Kwara state public secondary schools. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that the scope of instructional supervision should be widened to cover all schools. It was also recommended that a benchmark number of tines that a school must be visited for instructional supervision in a year should be set.en_US
