Abstract
Family is known as the smallest units in the society and it is the first agent of socialization of the child. Several studies have been conducted on family types and academic performance. The main rationale of this study is to examine the influence of family types on deviant behaviours of in-school adolescent in Ibadan North, Oyo State. This study adopted a descriptive survey design. The sample for this study was 160 upper basic school students in four selected schools in Ibadan North. Adopted questionnaire was used for data collection. The data collected was analyzed using mean, percentage, chi square and t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The finding of the study showed that, there was a significant influence of family types on deviant behaviour of in-school adolescents in Ibadan North, Oyo State. Based on the findings, it was recommended that, parents should be made aware of the extent to which problems at home and family types can influence the behaviour of their children.
