Abstract
Radicalization and terrorism have become a menace disturbing the peace of the world. In Nigeria, the phenomena seem to defer all logics because all efforts to curb it appear to be abortive for their occurrence continues to be on increase by the day. The terrorist organizations prey on the vulnerable masses of the North East and Middle Belt regions of the country which has negative effect on the economy of Nigeria particularly in the affected regions. This paper therefore studied the cause of radicalization and terrorism in Northern Nigeria and proffered correct approach of curtailing it through Arabic poetry which will help the Nigerian Government implement effective strategies and also suggests intervention methods. The methods adopted are historical and descriptive. Various cases of violence in Nigeria were reviewed, while the concept of brainwashing, which is one major aspect of terrorist activities, was focused using videos, newspapers, police reports and interviews to support our analysis. Preliminarily, it was discovered that over billions of United States of American Dollars has been spent on security, poverty alleviation and fighting against corruption to curb this phenomena, while little attention has been paid on how to use Arabic Literacy to curtail the root of radicalization and terrorism in the country as observed that the radical sect used to misinterpret the scripture for their selfish interest by corning the Arabic language semantics.
