Abstract

This paper investigated the significance of modern technology in the teaching and learning of Igbo language in the 21st Century. Data was gathered from the Igbo language teacher and Igbo learners from Adesoye College, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria. A questionnaire was administered and interview conducted among Igbo language teacher and students of the school to elicit their responses on the need to use modern technology in teaching and learning Igbo language. Since the number of Igbo language learners in the school were not much, all the JSS 1 – 3 and SS 1 – 3 students were used for the elicitation of the data for the study by the use of questionnaires. The data for the study was analysed using simple statistical method. Precisely, TAM model was employed for the analysis. Correlation and percentages were used to find simple relationship among the variables. From the study, it was found that modern technology has a tremendous impact in enhancing and motivating teaching and learning of Igbo language and should be encouraged.
