TEACHING WOMEN'S LITERATURE IN FRENCH AS SECOND LANGUAGE REQUIRES A SPECIAL APPROACH THAT GOES BEYOND THE TRADITIONAL APPROACH OF ANALYSING THEMES AND STYLISTIC FEATURES. THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND, THE UBIQUITOUS PROBLEMS RAISED AND THE LANGUAGE WHICH SOMETIME MAY BE BITTER AND HATEFUL COMBINE TO GIVE THE FEMINIST LITERATURE ITS DISTINCTIVE AESTHETICS. QUITE OFTEN BASED ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND CLOSE OBSERVATION OF HUMAN EXPERIENCES. FEMALE WRITINGS THEREFORE SERVE AS DIAGNOSTIC OF THE MIND. THE NUMEROUS THEORIES THAT HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED OVER THE YEARS ALSO REVEAL THE DIVERGENCE IN THE CONCEPTIONS OF FEMALE NEEDS. UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WHO STUDY THIS LITERATURE SHOULD BEAR IN MIND THIS INTRICATE DIVERSION FROM THE TRADITIONAL PRACTICE.
