Abstract

Poverty is one of the major factors militating against human development. Mostly associated with Africa, Caribbean and Pacific country, poverty alongside other factors has been highlighted as the major factor responsible for the underdevelopment of Africa and Latin America. To alleviate the poverty of these countries, certain measures were put in place by the governments and corporate bodies. It is against this background that this article examined the social service organization established by the Nigerian government which is the Technical Aid Corps (TAC) and the Voluntary Service Organization, (VSO) China which would be used as a case study in explaining and analysing how social service institutions have been trying to alleviate poverty globally. The paper adopts a historical and multi-disciplinary approach and concludes that although there are differences in the two but creating a synergy would certainly help in bringing better understanding of the workings of the two organisation for effective managerial delivery. Also, the modus oprandi as well as the structure of these two organizations i.e. TAC and VSO China would be examined alongside the gain, benefit, prospect and challenges of these organizations and its effect on their countries i.e. Nigeria and China policy
