Abstract

The concept of children upbringing in the Yoruba traditional religion and biblical view is attended by multifarious perspectives. Children upbringing in the Yoruba tradition is perceived from the concept of omoluabi which is the end product of Yoruba education with the aim to foster good character in the individual and to make him a useful member of the community; while the biblical view also aims at producing the total man who is cared for physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. The research shews that biblical concept is a rider to Yoruba concept of children upbringing. The finding reveals that an omoluabi is a correct man; the only thing that he lacks is the faith in Christ. Methodology for the paper includes historical, sociological with interview and participant observation as tools of research.
