Abstract

The Library and Information Science (LIS) field is dynamic and ever-changing. Being a combination of several other fields, including humanities, social sciences, information technology, behavioural sciences and many more, LIS professionals are frequently required to adapt to continual changes in curricula, practice, and research focus. Such changes have become an integral part of library components: information packaging has changed from print forms into electronic and virtual format; modern library users have changed from seeking print resources to sophisticated gadget users; and the library spaces are also changing in the modern world from the traditional 'woodpecker' arrangement into inviting user-centered systems. These changes need to be captured and documented in order to support knowledge transfer among librarians and to enable research agenda to focus on a novel compendium of modern issues in librarianship, especially as they relate to the Nigerian context, this it is titled "Modern practices in Library and Information Science: Themes, Trends, and Issues.
