Effect of set-up height on the performance of pot-in-pot cooling device for storing food and drugs at ambient temperature
    (FUOYE Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2019) Yahaya, S. A.; Akande, K. A.; Raji, A. O.; Abdulrahman, K. O.; Enagi, I. I.
The research aimed at evaluating the effect of set-up height on the performance of earthenware pot-in-pot cooling system. The pots were set up at different heights; H1 (0 m), H2 (0.5 m) and H3 (1 m) and observed for 59 days from 8:00am to 6:00pm daily. The inner temperatures obtained from the three different arrangements were determined using standard methods. The result showed that increasing the height from ground level (0 m) to 1 m increases the mean cooling effect by 8 %. Generally, it was observed that only the set-up height at 1m proved to have maximum efficiency of the pot-in-pot system performance.

Factors Responsible for Flooding Among Residents in Ilorin East Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria
(The Department of Human Kinetics Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin Nigeria, 2017) Ologele, I; Raji, A. O.; Musa, S. H.; Alebiosu, E. O.; Odegbemile, A. M.
This study investigated factors responsible for flooding among resident in Ilorin East Local Government, Kwara State. The purpose of this study was to determine whether: (i) indiscriminate waste and inadequate drainages are responsible for among resident in Ilorin East Local Government Area, Kwara State. Descriptive research design of the survey type was adopted for the study. Multi-stage sampling techniques consisting of purposive, proportionate and simple random sampling technique were used to select a sample size of four hundred and forty five (445) respondents used for the study. Researcher-designed questionnaire validated by three (3) experts in the related field were used for the data collection. A reliability co-efficient of 0.75r was obtained through split-half method. Data collection was conducted by the researcher and three trained research assistants. Inferential statistics of Chi-square was used to analyse the formulated null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study showed that indiscriminate waste disposal and inadequate drainage system are responsible for flooding (267.52 21.03, 267.52 > 21.03) among resident in Ilorin East Local Government Area, Kwara State. The researchers' concluded that indiscriminate waste disposal and inadequate drainage system were responsible for flooding among resident in the study area. The researchers' recommended amongst others that. Morin East Local Government Authority should provide necessary measures to provide more drainage system within the study area and dredge the existing drainages for easy passage of water and other liquid waste.
