A.; Olatunji Abdulganiy; Issah MoshoodNaturally, man is created to live in groups, and through group life, man has been able to overcome many challenges of nature. However, despite numerous benefits inherent in group living, it could also be source of problems in some instances especially when the groups existing in a society differ in terms of one social property or the other. Practically, Nigeria is a society consisting of different social groups delineated on several social variables ranging from language, ethnicity, belief system, cultural and occupational background. These social variables have been the basis of social categorization and have been source of differences and conflicts among various social groups existing in the country. In contemporary Nigeria, cases of intergroup conflicts are becoming too prevalent. D.; Tejideen T. O.; Ishola S. O.Economy is one of the basic social institutions that determine the condition of living of people within a given geographical entity. To this extent, studies have examined various aspects of the economy viz-a-viz the good, the bad and the ugly. One of the negative aspects of the economy that has attracted the attention of scholars is economic recession. To advance the frontier of knowledge on the dynamics of economic recession, this study examined the effect of economic recession on operational dynamics of business as experienced by traders in Molete market, Ibadan-Oyo State. To achieve this objective, the survey was adopted as the research design, all traders in Molete market constituted the study population, and two-stage sampling technique was used to select sample for the study. Both questionnaire and interview were utilized as instruments of data collection. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical tools. Frequency count and simple percentage were used as descriptive statistical tools: regression analysis was adopted as the inferential statistical while verbatim quotation method was used to analyse qualitative data collected for the study. Findings of the study revealed that incidence of economic recession has devastating effects on business operational dynamics of the grassroot traders and by implications negatively affected their economic conditions and general livelihood. The study recommends that the Federal ministry of finance should add more to their effort of managing the country out of recession. This could be achieved by floating appropriate economic policies that will mitigate the effects of recession on the people, take the economy out of recession and prevent its further occurrence in the society.Item Entrepreneurship Education and Self-Employment Orientation Among Undergraduates in University of Ilorin(Centre of Entrepreneurship Studies, University of Abuja, Abuja-Nigeria, 2019-03) Olatunji Abdulganiy; Azeez L. O.; Saadu A.Based on the current Nigeria economic situation characterized by frequent increase in the rate of graduate unemployment, campaign for self-employment orientation has been on the increase and this trend informed the introduction of entrepreneurship education as a means of equipping potential graduates with skills and knowledge needed to develop self-employment orientation. Due to the enormous attention and huge resources dedicated to entrepreneurship education in various higher institutions of learning, there is the need to examine the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education in promoting self-employment orientation especially among undergraduates who have been exposed to this form of education. A survey was carried out among students in some faculties at the university of Ilorin based on purposive sampling technique; questionnaire was used as the instrument of data collection, the result was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical tools. The study finding indicates that there is no significant relationship between entrepreneurship education and self-employment orientation of the sampled undergraduates as entrepreneurship education has not been able to have a Jar-reaching effect on the students. The study thus recommends that entrepreneurship education should go beyond class works as practicum should be included, and moreover, effort should be made to address the university curriculum and allow for a strong emphasis on practical entrepreneurial trainings.Item Governance Terrorism and Security Challenges in the North-Easthern Nigeria(DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY, OSUN STATE UNIVERSITY, OSOGBO, 2015-04) Issah Moshood; Olatunji Abdulganiy; Babatunde Isiaka OlayiwolaIt is apparent that the campaign of terror unleashed by the members of the Boko-Haram terrorist organization has defied all solutions. Although there are a number of theoretical and empirical studies on the pervasive problem of terrorism in Nigeria, most recent studies have not specifically and adequately examined the possible connection between the components of good governance and terrorism in Nigeria. It is against this backdrop that this paper examined the nexus between the elements of good governance and domestic terrorism in North-eastern Nigeria; thereby injecting new insights into the on-going academic and intellectual discourses on the terrorism in Nigeria. In achieving this, relevant literatures were reviewed and secondary data were sourced. The problem of insurgency was situated within the theoretical framework of Strategic Choice and Political Process. The paper found that the failure of Nigerian government in addressing the problems of youth unemployment, poverty, illiteracy and socio-economic inequality, particularly in the North-eastern Nigeria, provided a fertile ground for the development of religious fundamentalism, which has led to Islamic insurgency in the region. Against this backdrop this paper recommended that good governance through massive initiation and implementation of poverty alleviation programme in the region; pursuance of sound educational policy aimed at bridging the gap between North and South; and intensive campaign against political corruption that has become endemic among the Northern political elites. Also, ideological orientation and re-orientation should be widely embarked upon in order to change the rigid and extreme religious ideology.Item Morality, Leadership and Governance; Setting Models for Responsible Political Leadership in Nigeria(Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Federal University, Lokoja, 2018-01) Olatunji Abdulganiy; Noah Yusuf; Issah Moshood; Ibrahim ABdullahi Kayode; Lawal Ebenezer EjalonibuMorality is concerned with the principles of right and wrong behaviours. While no society has strict laws governing morality among its members, nevertheless, there are strong moral codes and rules expected of them. Religious doctrines also contain specific injunctions on basic moral principles guiding adherents. Thus, every society has guidelines for the moral conduct of its people. The concern of this paper is the nexus between morality, leadership and governance with a view to setting a template for responsible political leadership in Nigeria. The contemporary Nigerian society has witnessed a steady decline in moral standards over the years. In particular, concern has been expressed on the apparent immoral conducts of the nation’s political actors at all levels. Rather than being an avenue for national development, politics in Nigeria has become a lucrative business venture for different calibers of people. Thus, as a purely business enterprise, only those who have money (money bags) could venture into it for the sole purpose of making more money (profits). The results of this are reflected in decades of under-development, political instability, corruption and infrastructural decay. The paper addresses this vexed issue of morality, leadership and governance in Nigeria. It draws a parallel between moral decadence and bad governance in the country and demonstrated that in several ways, the current political, economic and social travails bedeviling the country are not unconnected with the moral decline among both rulers and the ruled. Consequently, the paper set a template for responsible political leadership in the country through moral rebirth.Item Motivation as a Determinant of Employees' Productivity: A Study of Communication Network Support Service Limited (CNSSL), Ilorin(University of Abuja, Abuja, 2016-03) Olatunji Abdulganiy; Lawal E.
