Item HUMAN RESOURCE STRATEGY AND PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT: A RESOURCE BASED VIEW APPROACH(Department of Accountancy Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu State, Nigeria., 2017-06) OLOTA, Oluwayomi Omotayo; AUN, Isaac Iortimbir; OYEDOKUN, Godwin EmmanuelIn view of the present recession around the world, it is important for an organisation to review its human resource strategies and identify how to apply these strategies to production. This research adopted a survey research design. Simple random sampling technique used to select 100 staffs of the production department and human resource department in LUBCOM Nigeria Ltd. Questionnaires were used as the instrument of primary data. Data were analysed using regression analysis and correlation which revealed that job design has a positive impact on the production process with a significance level of 0.00 which is less than 0.05 and R2 value of 0.784, also that there exists a strong relationship between labour planning and production function with a significance level of 0.00 which is also less than 0.05 and finally the study finds out that labour standard has a huge impact on the productivity of employee with a significance level of 0.05 and R2 value of 0.769. The research findings indicated that proper job designs, effective labour planning and labour standard by the strategic human resource manager will improve the various production process, production function and increase employee productivity. Job design, labour planning and labour standard as a dimension of human resource strategy if properly annexed will lead to job enlargement, job enrichment of employees, optimal utilization of their ability among others.Item IMPACT OF ENVIRONMENT FACTORS ON BUSINESS PERFORMANCE IN KWARA STATE, NIGERIA(Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, 2017-06) OLOTA, Oluwayomi Omotayo; ABDUL, Falilat Ajoke; OLADIPO, Ganiyu TaiwoIt has been argued that more than 70% of SMEs go into extinction within first five years of establishment. Despite their contribution to the economy, high mortality rate amongst them is of great concern to all stakeholders. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to determine the impact of environmental factors on the performance of SME. The population of this study was 2703 SMEs in Ilorin. The study adopted purposive sampling technique to select a sample size of 336. Data was analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The hypothesis was tested using both regression and correlation. The result of the analysis reveal that (i) with the result of hypothesis one (R= 0.747, Rsquare = 0.558, (0.000)< 0.5). This implies that 55.8% varaiation in the dependent variable (Efficiency of SMEs) is caused by the independent variables (Employees' competencies). (ii) while hypotheses two result indicate R(325)=0.125, P=0.024<0.05. This revealed that a positive relationship exist between technological advances and innovativeness of SME, which is significance at P-value of 0.024. (iii) and lastly for hypotheis three result (R = 0.855, Rsquare= 0.732, (0.000)< 0.5). This implies that 73.2% variables (Economic factors). The study concluded that employees' competencies, technological advances and economic factors are key determinants of SME performance. It is therefore essential fro SMEs to put their business environment into consideration in their strategic management planning in order to survive the complexity and dynamism of the environment.Item IMPACT OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT ON INTRAPRENEURSHIP PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIA TELECOMMUNICATION INDUSTRY: A STUDY OF MTN AND GLOBACOM(Published by Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri, Nigeria, 2017-03) Umar, Gunu; Emmanuel, Tsado; OLOTA, Oluwayomi OmotayoThis study was designed to determine the factors that influence intrapreneurship in Nigerian Telecommunication industry. The broad objective of this study was determined the impact of knowledge management on intrapreneurship performance in Nigeria Telecommunication industry. Specific objectives include to: examine the factors that influence intrapreneurship in MTN and GLOBACOM Nigeria Ltd; and examine the influence of knowledge management on intrapreneurship in MTN and GLOBACOM Nigeria Ltd. Multi-stage sampling method was used to select a total of 375 from MTN and GLOBACOM Nigeria Ltd for questionnaire administration. The techniques employed for data analysis included descriptive statistics and regression analysis. Findings of the study indicated that; factors of intrapreneurship are practice in Nigeria Telecommunication industry. The result of the regression shows that knowledge management has a significant influence on intrapreneurship in Nigeria Telecommunication industry. The study concluded that knowledge management has proved to be important factors and the driving force behind intrapreneurship performance in Nigeria Telecommunication Industry. The study recommended that management of MTN and GLOBACOM Nigeria should focus on the adequate use of knowledge management in their respective organisation in order to maximise its benefits.Item IMPACT OF QUALITY OF WORK-LIFE OF EMPLOYEES ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE(Department of Management Technology, Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, Nigeria., 2019-06) OLOTA, Oluwayomi Omotayo; AUN, Isaac Iortimbir (Ph.D.); ABDUL, Falilat Ajoke (Ph.D.); OLADIPO, Ganiyu Taiwo (Ph.D.)The Nigerian economy has continued to witness renewed and sustained recession, characterized by inflation, unemployment and declining businesses, and have caused industrial relation actors to think differently about their goals. Employees are regarded as the central fulcrums of all socio-economic activities. Therefore, this study is centered on examining the impact of Quality of work-life of employees on Organizational performance. This paper adopted survey research method. Primary data was sourced using questionnaires. Multi stage sampling technique was employed for the research work given the population of 2364 with the sample size of 236. The techniques employed for the data analysis were Linear Regression Analysis and Pearson Correlation Analysis. The study concluded that Quality of Work life of Employees has a significant impact on organizational performance. Based on the findings, the study recommended that organizations should give more attention to giving employees- satisfactory compensation scheme which includes salary, bonuses, incentive schemes etc, give immediate opportunity for use and development of human capacities and encourage work & total life space for their employees in order to ensure higher organizational performance.Item KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND INNOVATION; ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING PERSPECTIVE(FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES, UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN, 2018-06) OLOTA, Oluwayomi Omotayo; AUN, Isaac Iortimbir(Ph.D); OMOLEKAN, Olushola Joshua Ph.D.The level of venture mortality rate in the Nigeria business environment is quite startling as a result of the immense global competition. The rate of knowledge management practice is low which is linked to low or lack of innovation. This mortality rate could be linked to lack of innovative capability. Therefore, this study is designed to evaluate the impact of knowledge management on innovation in selected banks in Nigeria. The objectives of the study are: to investigate the relationship between experience sharing and managerial innovation in the banking sector; to examine the effect of knowledge application process on product Innovation in the banking sector. Primary data were obtained through the use of questionnaire. Simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 80 respondents from the study population of 185 employees. Correlation (r) analysis was adopted to analyse the relationship between experience sharing and managerial innovation in the banking sector; and multiple regression analysis was used to analyse the effect of knowledge application process on product Innovation in the banking sector. The result of the correlation analysis indicated that there is relationship between experience sharing and managerial innovation and the regression analysis show that knowledge application has a positive high effect on product innovation (R Square of 0.825). The study concluded that knowledge management is not only important for product innovation but also is very necessary for managerial innovation in term of experience sharing from customer, colleagues and across the units in the banks. Therefore, the study recommended that banks in Nigeria should encourage experience sharing through feedback from customer and experiences from employee in order to promote managerial innovation and also encourage knowledge application by the utilization and application of knowledge to solve new problem which will lead to product innovation that is tailored toward customer satisfaction in their organization.
