Item Perceived Entrepreneurial Behaviour as Predictor of Entrepreneurial Intention among University of Ibadan Undergraduate Students(Department of Educational Foundations & Counseling, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, Nigeria., 2018) Johnson, Tunde Oyeleke; Ojewumi, Kehinde Aderemi; Adedayo, Olufunmilayo; Ajibewa, Segun; Ibrahim, Bashirat Abiodun; Oguntayo, Rotimi; Faworaja, OmolaraABSTRACT This study investigated the influence of perceived entrepreneurial behaviour (PEB) as predictor of entrepreneurial intention (EI) among university of Ibadan undergraduate students. Cross-sectional research design was adopted for the study where 341 participants were selected through accidental sampling technique using structured questionnaire that measured PEB as predictor of EI. Zero order correlation and t-test for independent sample and analysis of variance were used at p≤0.05 significant level. Findings revealed that significant relationship existed between perceived entrepreneurial behaviour and EI at {r=.758; p<.01); Participants with high level of perceived entrepreneurial behaviour scored significantly higher on EI t (338) = -3.493; P<.05). Regression analysis showed that age, sex, level in school, parental educational background and PEB jointly predicted entrepreneurial intention (R = .264; R2 =.070; F (5,334) = 5.010; p<.05). The study recommended that acquisition of skills and abilities by students should be encouraged as it will boost the individual self-efficacy and eventually lead to acts of innovation, creativity and exploration of the environment.Item Personality Factor and Self-Perception Susceptibility as Correlates of Internet Addiction among University of Ibadan Students(Department of Sociology, University of Ilorin, Nigeria., 2019) Oyeleke, Johnson Tunde; Ibrahim, Bashirat AbiodunAbstract Internet use has become a phenomenon of interest all over the world. Nigerian University students have become receptive to internet technology. However, the downside is that internet use can lead to internet addiction. Extant literature indicates that there are sparse studies on how students become addicted to the internet. This study therefore investigated personality factors and self-perception susceptibility, as determinants of internet addiction among students of University of Ibadan. The study is a survey research and it made use of structured questionnaires to elicit responses from 1398 regular and online distance learning (ODL) students of the University of Ibadan. Four hypotheses were generated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Results indicate that female students scored significantly higher on internet addiction than their male counterparts t(353)=2.792. Marital status also showed that respondents who are single significantly score higher on internet addiction than the married t(353) = 3.063. Also, respondents who are regular students scored significantly higher on internet addiction than respondents who are on ODL mode of study t(353)= 2.197. Self-perception susceptibility, extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness and neuroticism jointly predicted internet addiction F(6.341)=12.209). Self-perception susceptibility, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and neuroticism also independently predicted internet addiction (β = .267; t =5.304); (β = .208; t = 2.909); (β = .292; t = 4.661); (β = -.158; t = -2.470) Therefore, sex, marital status, mode of study and personality traits of extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness and neuroticism are important factors in internet addiction.Item Perspectives, Theories and Personality Psychology(2021) Ibrahim, Bashirat AbiodunPsychology as a discipline is concerned with studying, understanding and explaining both human and animal overt and covert behaviours; and ultimately modifying such behaviours when there is a need. To study and understand these behaviours, authorities in the discipline have propounded perspectives and theories to guide the endeavours. The perspectives and theories in turn help to guide the understanding of human personality development. This chapter will discuss the perspectives, theories and personality development and how they help our understanding of human behaviours.
