As for criticism, it is the one that focuses on the criteria drawn up in issuing judgment on any literary work, and its depth has expanded with the passage of time, as scholars drew special elements for it that the literary student employs in the study of any literary text. Then his garden expanded with the emergence of critical schools, and it was divided into modern and ancient literature. Later, he proved theories that the critics tended to, so they justified them and established rules and principles for them. This article aims to know the reality of literary criticism according to the understanding of the researcher after examining the opinions of scholars, then to know the purpose of literary theory according to what the critics went to, in addition to knowing its relationship to literary work and its relationship to the study of literary works themselves. The article will shed light on the following points: what is meant by literary criticism, critical theory, and literary criticism in the applied aspect, and literary criticism between theory and practice.Item Spiritual Diaspora in Nigerian Arabic Poetry: Highlights from the Poems of Isa Alabi Abubakar(University Sultan Zainal Abidin, Malesia, 2023-08-31) ADEKILEKUN, Azeez LateefArabic Poetry retains the front position among the products of Arabic Scholars in Nigeria. Many works of Nigerian authors had exposed how poetry had been used to express thoughts, idea and views about different phenomenal. The second period of Arabic Literature in Nigeria as discussed by Al Ilory in Misbahud Diraasatil Adabiyyah witnessed the golden era of how emotions were interpreted through imagination with the employment of artistic styles unintentionally. The extension of poetic prowess is witnessed in all Arabic Literature periods where poets composed poems with the standard of Arabic Poetry of early periods. Isa Alabi Abubakar as one of the most recognized Arabic poets in Nigeria had succeeded in composing poems that cut across many topics within his immediate society and across the globe. This paper therefore studied the spiritual immigration in Nigerian Arabic Poetry with concentration on Isa Alabi Abubakar's corpus. The paper examines the difference between spiritual immigration and orientalism through the understanding of their meaning. The artistic features of the selected poems were accounted for. The descriptive method was approached in justifying the study. The finding of the study showed that Isa Alabi does not process a restricted scholarly personality but a wide and versed knowledge that put his name in the register of African poets. His understanding of how grammatical and rhetorical styles were exposed in the study. With this, the poet succeeded in extending the culture of the world to his people through his poem.Item The Islamic Trend in Social Poetry in Osun State(The Faculty of Languages Al-Madinah International University, Malaysia., 2022-08-14) ADEKILEKUN, Azeez LateefIntroduction: Islam aims in social poetry to encourage social virtues and warn against its vices. Social poetry is that which identifies social problems in poetic form, then proposes suitable solutions to those problems. The purpose of this paper lies in a descriptive study of the Islamic orientation in selected social poems by poets from the state of Ausen. The paper also aims to trace social life in the state to identify its problems and appropriate remedies. Two poems from the eastern region of the state were selected, and the researcher used descriptive and historical methods to study the poems. It is also considered as a scholarly treasury through which a writer's ideas, styles and literaly appreciation are exposed. Wazeer Junayd Muhammad Uthman is known as the first Nigerian to dabble into travelogue in the modern time. Several Nigeria writters have also written travelogues that contain academic facts and different historical happenings. This paper therefore examines the travelogue written by Mashood Mahmud Jimba during his visit to Sayi and Niyami of the Republic of Niger. The Researcher tries to highlight the new styles employed by the writer. The methodologies used in the study are historical and disciptive. A paper authored by Dr Khalil Usman Gbodofu in the history of travelogue in Nigeria served as literature review. The paper was published in Islamic University Multidiciplinary Journal, Uganda 2020.
