Abstract

Ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of Turraea vogelli leaves exhibited cytotoxic activity on leukaemia carcinoma K562 with IC50 values 85.00 and 85.22 ug/mL respectively. Isolation of the extracts afforded tetradec-7-enoic acid (1), pentadec-1-ene (2), ethyl tridec-7-enoate (3), Beta-sitosterol (4) and stigmasterol (5). The structures of these compounds were characterised by IR, 1D and 2D NMR and Mass Spectroscopy, and supported with literature data. Compounds 1 and 4 exhibited antiproliferative activity against K562 tumor cell lines with 1C50 of 57.27 and 27.56 ug/mL respectively. All isolated compounds exhibited low cytotoxicity against WRL and MCF - 7 tumor cell lines
