The present paper therefore addresses the issue of trade unionism and organisational development in Nigeria. It traces the history and development of trade unions in the country, peruses the role of trade unions in pre-independence and post-colonial era and examines how organisational development can be effected through vibrant trade unionism while stressing on lessons to be learnt from the Nigerian experience.
