Human population consists of individuals who differ widely in body shape and size as people unscientifically believe that the fat persons are sluggish, lazy and sleepy; therefore, may not do well academically while thin persons are perceived to be lively, energetic and alert; therefore they are perceived to be sound and vibrant. Thus, the purpose of this study was to assess the anthropometric parameters of Scholars in University of Ilorin. Ex-post Facto research design was adopted for this study. The population was 267 scholars for 2015/2016 academic session. 152 scholars were sample using simple random and purposive sampling techniques. Standardized instrument such (birth certificate to determine the age, standiometer for height body fat/hydration monitoring for weight) were used for the study. Descriptive statistics of mean, range, standard deviation and inferential statistics (ANOVA) were used to describe the data collected and to test the stated null hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. There were variations in the mean and range values among male and female scholars. It was concluded that age, stature, body mass and BMI play a significant role in academic achievement. It is therefore recommended that scholars should engage in physical activities to maintain healthy body weight and ideal health status for academic growth and development.en_US
