Abstract

Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim Maimasa Al-Nafawi contributed greatly to the revival of the Arab heritage, as evidenced by many of his linguistic and literary works, which made him considered one of the most prominent figures in the Arabic language in the Emirate of Ilorin. Especially what was written about his observations and personal impressions on the trip that he and a number of senior sheikhs of the Qadiriyya order made in Nigeria in 1975 CE, under the leadership of the head of the delegation, Sheikh Muhammad al-Nasir al-Kabri al-Kanawi al-Sanhaji; Who advised him to record everything he saw during that trip, and he did so under his wise leadership and guidance. This work - rightly - represents the beginnings of what was written in the Principality of Ilorin of travel literature, in which Al-Nafawi recorded most of their observations and the places they visited during this trip, and revealed the secrets of its beauty, so that the reader shares his feeling and is strongly affected. This is due to what impresses him of the correct transmission of the conditions of the journey, and an accurate description of the images on which those visited places are based, with an indication of the rituals of their geography, and the topography of their lands within what the reader enjoys of the details of what he lived and experienced with him and all those with him in this travel, so that the reader imagines – And he is on these pages - as if he is in front of a cinematic movie, to which all the details of the plans for this trip are accurately conveyed, and he watches the ceremonies of the traveler's steps. Naturally, travel literature was considered one of the ancient literary arts in Arabic literature, and this literary genre enriched Arab libraries. Because it has important historical references, and large sources documenting sensitive geographical information; however, at this present time, this literary genre is almost losing its identity among its brothers in the arts of Arabic literature. This is due to many factors that result in the technological development that has brought the planets closer together, and united its easts and wests, as if the length of its distance is the amount between the two extremes; As it folds within a few hours, it is cut off by cars, planes, missiles, and other technological developments, and today's travel is no longer the same as it was yesterday, just as today's travelers are no longer like the old travelers. The technological revolution, the advancement of transportation, and the large number of travelers did not make the traveler a nomad (in the traditional sense). Travelers became tourists, handing over - in fact - the matters of their travel to others. Thus, the traveler was deprived of the depth and excitement of the real journey experience, and the traveler did not become that adventurous scout, whose journey is characterized by individuality and originality3; Thus, technology is considered a powerful factor in the absence of the identity of travel literature, and the introversion of its area in contemporary literary works. This paper studies the aesthetics of the text of this literary prose, through which the writer Al-Nafawi was able to convey to the reader all his observations on that journey, and convey them to the reader correctly, making the reader as if he were watching everything he reads in the lines with his own eyes, and this was helped by the appropriate choice of words and the power of meanings And the magnificence of the method and the honesty and trustworthiness in conveying the observations, while describing them in an accurate description that matches the feelings and interacts with them.
