Entrepreneurship has been one of the fundamental human activities from time immemorial; the age-long practice of entrepreneurial activities in human societies is evident in ancient history of Jews, Arabs, English and African societies. Due to the importance of entrepreneurial activities in human's life, different scholars in several social sciences and managerial disciplines have looked into the subject from their own disciplinary point of view. Most of these disciplines have only seen the concept from their own immediate academic background with little or no emphasis on the socio-cultural milieu in which entrepreneurship takes place. In an attempt to fill this gap, this paper, exploring various approaches, intends to bring out the importance of socio-cultural factors in entrepreneurship activities. It is observed through different approaches examined in the paper that sociological factors have significant influence on entrepreneurship activities generally. The paper concludes on the premise that sociological factors are important variables to be considered in entrepreneurial studies and in the formulation and implementation of entrepreneurial policies in Nigeria.
