The study examined the benefits and issues in implementation and maintaining e-records in Federal Ministry of
Finance Nigeria (FMFN). Through quantitative approach and qualitative method, data were gathered from the
FMFN staff within the selected units and departments. The sample of the study comprised of 60 respondents who
are active in the management of e-records. The findings of the study revealed that implementation and
maintenance of e-records as resulted to the reduction in the expenditure of the FMFN, Reduction of error and
storage space. Besides, the study also discovered some challenges which work against the functioning and
thriving of e-records at the FMFN. These are: power shortages in the country, IT infrastructural deficits, poor
internet connections as well as inadequate training. The study concluded that proper implementation of e-records
is crucial to sustainability of any organisation especially in this present age and despite efforts put in place,
ministries, agencies and departments should ensure an ideal mechanism that will foster the effectiveness and
efficiency of e-records. The study recommends the need for the FMFN to improve the implementation and
maintenance of e-records by making more IT facilities available to various departments and units, providing
adequate power supply and training staff on the maintenance of the e-records.
