Abstract
There is no contestation on the evils of rape and sexual violence locally, nationally and universally. However, there are many contestations on the causes, forms and nature of sexual violence. These contestation are indeed products of differences in culture, human evolution, myth and modernity. Culture and myth are intertwined and are organic even though inelastic. The concepts of culture and myth also find their ways into modernity, and in the present form, modernity has grown through series of stages, standing now to celebrate the intellectual castle of postcoloniality with its attendant variation in literature and literary studies.
