dc.description.abstractThis study is a descriptive survey type. It examined influence of gender and years of teaching experience of senior secondary school biology teachers on their ecology teaching in Kwara State. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 142 schools in Kwara State, Nigeria. A total of 450 Biology teachers were sampled for the study. Three null hypotheses were generated and tested at 0.05 alpha level. Data analyses were carried out using t-test statistics. The study found that the Biology teachers in kwara state, were effective based on the students’ performance. The results equally indicated that effectiveness of Biology teachers’ was not significantly influenced by gender and years of teaching experience. Based on the findings, conclusion was drawn and it was recommended that authorities establishing senior secondary schools such as the Teaching Service Commission and State Ministry of Education as well as individuals should treat both the male and female biology teachers the same way when handling the issue of appointment and posting of biology teachers. Workshops, refresher courses and in-service training programmes should be organized for both experienced and less-experienced Biology teachers; Finally, the conditions of service of the biology teachers need to be improved because of the high cost of living.
