Abstract

This chapter examine how the the public learn about the issues of the day via mediated communication; how the member of the public are primed to attach differential weighs to those issues in response to the media placements, displays and contextualization. It documents that past and projects into the future of the theory.

Description

This power of the media to narrow the focus of the public to certain issues at the expense of others is the crux of agenda-setting theory, which is the focus of this chapter.
