dc.description.abstractAbstract This study investigated the implementation of physical and health education curriculum towards achieving optimal health status among secondary school teachers in Ilorin metropolis. The study examined whether methods of curriculum implementations among others have relationship in achieving optimal health status among secondary school teachers in Ilorin metropolis. Descriptive research design of survey type was employed for this study. Population of the study comprised of all secondary school teachers in Ilorin metropolis. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used for the study. A researcher structured questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. Test-retest method was used to establish the reliability of the instrument using Pearson Product Moment Correlation, coefficient of 0.75r was obtained. Inferential statistics of Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The findings of the study revealed that method of curriculum implementation has significant relationship in achieving optimal health status calculated (r) value (0.231) > critical value (0.117); experience of physical and health education teachers also has significant relationship in achieving optimal health status calculated (r) value (0.134) > critical value (0.117). It was concluded that poor implementation of physical and health education curriculum have significant influence in achieving optimal health status among secondary school teachers in Ilorin metropolis. Therefore, it was recommended amongst others that the approaches/ methods adopted for curriculum implementation should be situational and adequate so as to achieve optimal health status among secondary school teachers in Ilorin metropolis.en_US
