dc.description.abstractThe dynamic analysis of a thin undamped simply supported beam traversed by a non-uniform distributed moving mass is presented. The governing equation of motion for this system is simplified using variables separation method in terms of modal shape and unknown function of time. A numerical iterative technique is then employed to determine the effect of linear distribution of the moving mass on the dynamic behaviour of the beam. Numerical results are presented in graphical forms to illustrate the dynamic behavior due to this type of moving mass. It is found that the gradient’s distribution of the moving mass significantly affects the dynamic behaviour of the beam and that a uniformly distributed moving mass problem produces a lower bound deflection for linearly distributed moving mass problem.en_US
