| dc.description.abstract | Gender disparities in the use of ICTs had long existed due to male dominance in technology usage. However, in this technological age, the gender gap is gradually fizzling out due to high level of awareness and gains of ICTs by both gender groups. In view of this, this study examined gender disparities and perception towards ICTs among students in the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin, Kwara State. Research design adopted for this study was a survey approach using a structured questionnaire to collect data from respondents using inferential and descriptive statistics in analysing data. Four out of five departments in the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences were randomly selected for this study, 35 students were selected systematically from four of the departments to facilitate uniformity, thereby constituting a Sample size of 140 students for this study. Findings in this study revealed no significant difference in perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment between male and female students; while there was a significant difference in perceived ease of use. Based on these findings, it was concluded that cultural and societal beliefs do no longer influence the adoption of ICT tools, especially among female students. Recommendations were made towards improving the utilization of ICT tools, across the gender groups. | en_US |
