Abstract

The study aimed at ascertaining the role of organisational culture in choice of budget system as well as on organisational performance in federal universities across Nigeria. Ten universities were sampled from a population of twenty three eligible universities. A total sample of 272 heads of departments was sampled in the ten universities. Primary was extensively relied upon using validated instruments through a self administered questionnaire. Both descriptive and inferential statistical tools of analysis were used. Test of association provided evidence at level of p< α for H1 H2 and H3 . For the overall role of organisational culture on choice of budget system and organisational performance, MANOVA results (F = 18.51, P< α; Wilk's A= 0.302) suggested that strong organisational culture promotes the adoption of modern budget system as well as secure enhanced organisational performance.
