Abstract
Research has provided proof that controlling gender cultures, management can
increase organizational and individual effectiveness, in the form of increased job
performance and reduced absenteeism. There has been no indication in the
literature of how the various types of gender cultures impact on one another, or
whether there is one single most important type of gender culture which managers
need to focus on to improve organizational effectiveness. This study empirically
assesses the interactive impact of four types of gender cultures: glass ceiling,,
gentle man's club, gender blind and women as gatekeeper The managerial
implications of these findings are discussed.
