dc.description.abstractThis study examined the influence of role clarity on job satisfaction among the library personnel in South-West, Nigeria. Survey research design was adopted with a total population of 669 library personnel. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 23 universities based on their years of establishment. Total enumeration was used to include 440 library personnel in the 23 universities in South-West, Nigeria. A validated structured questionnaire was used for data collection with reliability index of 0.74 and 0.79 for role clarity and job satisfaction respectively. Out of 440 questionnaires distributed, only 356 were retrieved which accounted for 81% rate of return. Data collected was analyzed using both the descriptive and inferential (simple and multiple regression) statistics were used to analyze the data. The result of the findings indicated that there were high level of Job Satisfaction and that of role clarity among the library personnel in South- West, Nigeria. In addition, findings also revealed that role clarity has a significant influence on job satisfaction. Based on the above, it is thus recommended among others, that the university librarians should define roles and responsibilities for their employees. Also, management should try to reduce role conflicts to the minimum by setting clear objectives for each of the roles and also define periodic performance feedback process for their employees.
