Abstract

Tertiary institutions play a crucial role in the supply of high-level manpower for the socio-political and economic development of a state. public policies are simply principles and rules of action for achieving specific organisational or institutional goals. The main purpose of this study is to examine the factors inhibiting effective management of Tertiary Education in Kwara State Colleges of Education. The population consists of lecturers in all the three (3) colleges of education in the State. simple random sampling was used to select 90 lecturers as respondents for this study. The instrument for data collection was 10 items questionnaires titled: “Challenges of Effective Management of Tertiary Education Questionnaire”. The questionnaire was structured and data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics of means. Findings revealed that lack of funding will hamper the effective management of Tertiary Education in Kwara State Colleges of Education. It was therefore recommended that government should address the issue of funding in the colleges, review upward the pay-welfare package of staff.
