dc.description.abstractSexual dysfunction is a major problem besetting the sexual life of couple. It is a disturbance in the sexual desire and responses of married adults. Therefore, this study examined risk factors and consequences of sexual dysfunction among married adults in Ibadan Metropolis, Oyo State. Descriptive survey method was used for the conduct of this study. The population consisted of all married adults in Oyo State while the target population comprised married adults selected from 6 districts in Ibadan Metropolis. Simple random and convenient sampling procedures were used to select 250 respondents that participated in the study. Questionnaire designed by the authors was used to gather data from the consented respondents. Analysis of the data collected was done using descriptive and inferential statistics at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of this study revealed that substance abuse, stress, diabetes, alcohol consumption, sexually transmitted diseases were risk factors of sexual dysfunction among married adults in Ibadan Metropolis. It was also found that constant conflict, depression, anxiety and body pains are some of the consequences of sexual dysfunction. The result also indicated that the gender of respondents had no significant influence on the risk factors as well as consequences of sexual dysfunction while significant differences were noted based on age. It was concluded that married adults should seek the help of counsellors to reduce the trauma associated with sexual dysfunction.en_US
