Abstract
This Paper studied Arabic literature under the influence of Islamic kingdom,Emirate and Empire in West Africa. Due to the limited scope of the paper,effort was concentrated on Ilorin Emirate of Nigeria with the aim of using it asa case study for other Emirates. To achieve this objective, a brief discussionwas made on the history of Islamic Emirates and Empires in the region. Thiswas followed with full description of Ilorin Emirate in terms of its geographicallocation as well as its growth and development, before dwelling intoexamination of the activities of Arabic literature in the Emirate. It wasdiscovered that Arabic literature in Ilorin Emirate started with imitation andadaptation of the Arabs’ ways of prose and poem writing. This was laterdeveloped into creativity and originality in the production of the genres. Allthe Arabic literary works bear Islamic flavor in all its ramification and asignificant part of it measured up to acceptable standard in Arab word. It wasalso discovered that Arabic language influenced considerably some locallanguages and their literature. The paper called on researchers to embark onmanuscript editing and preservation of the Arabic literary works of theEmirate for the use of the generations yet on born. حاول البحث دراسة أحوال الأدب العربى تحت الممالك أو الإمارات الإسلامية فى قارة أفريقياالخضراء. ولضيق نطاق البحث ركزنا الجهود علي إمارة إلورن فى نيجيريا لتكون مرآة تنعكس فيها آثار هذهالممالك فى الأدب. ولتحقيق الغرض المنشود من البحث عرضنا نبذة طفيفة عن تاريخ ظهور الممالكالإسلامية فى قارة أفريقيا وأنواعها وذكرنا الذين لعبوا أدورا ملموسة فى تأسيسها وتحديد عهود كل منها علىحدة، قبل فصل الخطاب حول إمارةوعند نقاش ذلك أمعنا النظر فىماخصصنا الكلام حول تأثيره في الآداب الأجنبية الأخرى فى الإمارة. ونتيجة لذلك كله أدركنا أن وصولالشيخ عالم بن جنتا وأبنائه إلى أرض إلورن واستعانته بعلماء ربوة السنة، الذين أدركهم الشيخ فى مدينةإلورن، وتوافد العلماء من مختلف الأماكن الإسلامية، داخل نيجيريا وخارجها، إلى إلورن أدت إلى قيام الدولةالإسلامية فيها فظهرت إثر ذلك حركة أدبية علمية عربية عجيبة تصبغت بصبغة إسلامية. بدأ هذا الأدبببطء بأسلوب محاكاة العرب وتقليدهم فى نظم الشعر وتأليف النثر الفني ثم تطور أخيرا إلى درجة الإبتكارالمدارسعلى مصراعيها فى نيجيريا الذى من إثر ذلك توافدت البعثة العلمية إلى بلاد العربان ورجعوا إلى أهاليهمنيجيريا بزي جديد رائع يوافق روح العصر الجديد، صفاته التنميق والأصالة والروعة وحسن الديباج وفوقذلك كله إسلامي يطرق الفنون الأدبية بأجمعها بشكل مدهش. وأدرك البحث أن الأدب العربى فى هذهالإمارة أثَر فى الآداب المحلية الأخرى ففى ناحية الشعر ظهر شعر شعبى باسم "واكا إلورن". أخيرا وجدالبحث أن هناك مخطوطات عربية من أعمال أدباء إمارة إلورن لا تزال في خبايا الطمور، تضطر الي المنقحوالمحقق والناشر فدعا البحث إلي الإسهام في هذا المضمار،هل من مسهم؟
