Abstract
Generally, children apart from playing with peers find solace in visual media; this study therefore examined the perception of Nigerian parents on the influence of visual media on social behaviour of children. The Descriptive survey design was employed for the study. Data were collected from 200 Nigerian parents who were drawn using purposive and random sampling techniques. The result showed that Nigerian parents perceived that visual media has negative influence on social behaviour of children. The findings also revealed no significant difference in the perception of Nigerian parents on the influence of visual media on social behaviour of children based on gender, but significant differences were found based on age and educational attainment. It was recommended that Nigerian parents should monitor programs that their children see on visual media so that they can develop acceptable social behavior
