Abstract
The paper highlights various problems associated with the transportation of agricultural farm products by Nigerian rural farmers and discussed the classification of intermediate means of transportations (IMTs) and the common types of low-cost vehicles available. The research led to the design of an improved low-cost vehicle that is designed to be affordable, efficient and easy to maintain using locally sourced materials. The improvement in the design of the low-cost vehicle is seen in it compatibility, provision of roof cover, engine location at the rear, tilting of the trailer container, provision of more comfortable seats and the use of locally sourced materials for it construction.
