Abstract
Nigeria adopted federalism as-a means of managing her diverse and often conflicting
ethno-cultural diversities. Without doubt, this may have resulted in some positive achievements. But one issue that has remained germane to the practice of federalism
in Nigeria is the issue of resource control. This bothers on issues of equity and justice in power and resource distribution among the various nationalities in the country. The minority nationalities whose area incidentally produces the nation's resources have been at the receiving end, culminating in their demand for redress. The volatile dimension and recent trends of their agitations however portends ominous threat to the country. Against this background, the paper highlights dimensions of the agitations in the country with a view to draw out its implications on the country's federalism as well as the state as a whole.
