Abstract
This article examine the chants used by fishermen across the river Niger in Nigeria during the annual ritual theatrical regatta. It is to portray the occupational setting of a group of people referred to as Nupe the chants of this fishermen are realized to be contextually pragmatic they are collectively rendered and dramatized during proceedings in paddled canoe race on the river the folkloric tradition of the people can therefore be reviewed through the collation of this chant.
