Abstract
The Literary artist goes beyond the recreation of culture to redesign the society according to its progressive movement. He/She does this through African creative imagination Using the existing social forms and the medium for communication and these is where pragmatics is of importance as it helps us to see the use of Language as been functional between the socio-cultural domain. this work has been able to use selected African text to illustrate the appropriateness of linguistic forms in Nigeria pragmatic literature
