Abstract

The emergence of Internet has brought transformation in scholarly publishing. Open Access (OA) publishing plays a major role in scholarly communication system by facilitating the access and wide visibility of research outputs. The tertiary education sector in Nigeria is considered as one of the most influential in terms of research that develop the country. The study investigates adoption and use of OA publishing in Nigerian universities among the academic staff, with the concern on the factors influencing the adoption and use of OA publishing in the universities. The study attempts to build a conceptual framework to the Nigeria case according to the results of regression analysis. The results of analysis contribute a new framework which is considered as a novel framework in this study.
