Abstract

University of Ilorin has been providing Internet facilities and electronic information resources to users such as academics through various scholarly communication models, including Open Access(OA). Nonetheless, little is known about academics ' awareness and attitude towards OA publishing. The study examined awareness,attitude of academic staff towards adoption and use of OA publishing using triangulation means of collecting data. Also, the study determined the relationship in identified factors . Data were obtained through questionnaire and semi-structured interview. Out of 152 copies of questionnaire distributed , only 140 copies were returned with response rate of 92.1%. The findings of the study revealed high level of awareness of OA publishing and positive attitude towards adoption and use of OA publishing by academic staff.
